As Uncharted 2’s release date draws ever nearer, anticipation for the award winning title just keeps on growing. While core gamers may understand that Drake’s latest adventure is one of the best games of the year, Sony has faced an uphill battle to educate mainstream gamers and consumers about the title. In the past, Sony may have been criticised for the lack of advertising given to their games and platforms, but Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which is set to be Sony’s biggest game this year, looks to buck the trend and become Sony’s most heavily advertised PlayStation game.
Sony recently began a short advertising campaign for the game in the UK, which we predicted was hinting at a larger one closer to release. On Monday, October 12th, a full-length HD trailer will run for a four week period, including during the England World Cup qualifying matches. Additionally, there will be a ten week sponsorship campaign on both Sky One’s Friday Night Movie, and, appropriately, the Discovery Channel’s “Adventure & Survival” programmes. Cinema campaigns will also run a different full-length advert, utilising all in-game footage, from October 23rd.
If that wasn’t enough, print advertising will be coming soon, in publications such as T3 and the Official PlayStation Magazine as well as being featured prominently in The Sun newspaper.
Uncharted 2 is set to release on the 13th of October in the US, 14th in mainland Europe and the 16th in the UK and Ireland.

I have mine pre-ordered with Amazon – first time I have done this. Do they ship out the day before so you get your game on day of release?
ps – can someone remind me how to change my avatar on here?
so is nate Drake the face of PS3. Or, dare i say, the PS3 mascot. (i.E Mario, Sonic, and Master ChIef)
@ThatBoyTim
it depends on the shipping you choose. If u got the free shipping then you’ll get your game a couple of days later from the release
Can’t wait the multilayer beta is so much fun.
you know what I hate….how Microsoft advertises all of the multi-platform games like they are only on the XBox. I don’t know how many commercials I see every day for a multi-platform game and then after the trailer it will show the XBox 360 clip or say that the Elite has just dropped $100 in price. I seriously believe that this costs Sony some hardware sales because those who don’t do their research, like parents or younger kids, might believe those games are only on the XBox and then make their hardware selection accordingly.
I wonder how much they are spending on marketing.
@giese
I’ve noticed this and am also a bit bothered. I know it’s not a huge deal, but games easily have the icons near the bottom at the end of commercial, it sucks that micrococks is spending money on something fairly trivial, but potentially damaging for sony.
Sont advertises multiplatform games in PS3 commercials too. Dont be ignorant.
good point Kwiet
I hope the advertising works, whatever they do.
That’s not the same thing. Don’t be a dick
If it’s in a PS3 commercial it’s just advertising games on their system, but a commercial for one game only advertising one system when it’s on more than one, is as i already said “fairly trivial, but potentially harmful”
I didn’t say it was cause for a riot, I meant it sucks they found a way to mislead people against another console. I bought NHL10, and that’s one of the games that has the 360 ad at the end of it’s own. I don’t know if it says PS3 before or anything, but i didn’t notice. I would be slightly disappointed if something like this skewed the market, causing a smaller online community. Again, slightly different situations, so you are the one that shouldn’t be ignorant.
I just hope they do. They better do.
JohnnyTruant, I know what the point was, smart ass, what I’m saying is that there are commercials for Madden, Assassin’s Creed, Batman, etc that only advertise PS3. I’ve seen them with my own eyes, but people always like to play the Money hungry Microsoft card as if Sony isn’t just another corporation.
Read the reason why I thought it sucks. I said I would be slightly disappointed if something like this skewed the market, causing a smaller online community. That means because of my choice console not being the 360, I would prefer more people played the PS3 version, not that it’s a huge deal to me, as I’ve said more than once.. And relax with the smart ass stuff, I thought you meant commercials for the system showing all good games on the system, if you read it carefully that’s what you said. You don’t have to name call once a comment(unless it makes you feel better then by all means…), people make mistakes communicating through typing.
You can relax trying to talk down to me, its not worth the effort. You just admitted that you didn’t know what I was saying, when my first comment wasnt even for you to begin with, so why do you even care? Youre missing the fact that your point is flawed to begin with, because like I already said, Sony does the same thing.
i hate when micrsoft promote multiplatform games it really angers me
Look, the way you typed your first comment it could have been taken more than one way, I took it the way that made most grammatical sense. My point isn’t flawed because the reasoning behind my point is owning a PS3. I told you i’m biased and thats why I think it kinda sucks. Sorry you didn’t specify who you were commenting on, and considering I agreed with who you were directing it at, it’s not surprising I thought so.
I propose we leave this a misunderstanding/fuck up, and agree king_chapeton’s an idiot if his comment wasn’t for irony lol.
nice shot, i like it!
Sincerly,
