BioWare Talks PS3 Version Of Mass Effect 2 [Update]
This is a very interesting new bit coming from BioWare, developer on the sequel to Mass Effect, appropiately titled Mass Effect 2. The rumors have been swirling for months now on the possibility of the title coming to PlayStation 3. We’ve received both answers from BioWare and EA, but none like this.
Starting today was the Poznan Game Arena, a game event that spans from October 16th to 17th. BioWare was on the scene, for their two new titles Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2. During the event, Polish website Polygamia reported that during the BioWare conference, Jay Vatamanyuk (writer of Mass Effect 2) said something very revealing.
Mass Effect 2 was talked on for three platforms. Xbox 360, PC, and “probably” PS3. Of course, shortly later, the comment was retracted, and Vatamanyuk said that he would “not comment on rumour and speculation.”

It appears this was a slip of the tongue. The comments have been updated…
Watamaniuk clarified his comments saying it was all “a misunderstanding.”
“There is a report circulating today based on an appearance I made in Poland yesterday. Seems there was a misunderstanding about ME2 coming to PS3.” he wrote.
“Let me clarify today: ME2 is coming to PC and X360 only.”

Even later they came out and said a PS3 version wasn’t happening; that was just them trying to get the toothpaste back in the tube as far as I’m concerned.
Anyone else notice that when you look at the cover art for ME2 on Amazon and Gamestop it lacks the telltale ‘only on xbox’ stamp? I’d say that it’s definitely coming to the PS3, but probably a couple months later.
I think what they’re trying to say is: It’s coming to the PS3 but it’s not coming to the PS3, even though it is coming to the PS3 we are not making ME2 for the PS3. But you will see it on the stores for the PS3, but we…. er… (speaks to himself) damnit I shouldn’t have said that …(returns to normal tone) We do not coment on rumor nor speculation, even though we started the rumour and it sure isn’t a speculation.
@Mendax, the lack of “only on xbox” means nothing because, since the game will be realesed on both the PC and the X360, it’s not an exclusive exclusive, just a console exclusive. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Hmmm; good point. I thought console exclusives got the seal too but I’m not sure. Too lazy to look =_=
Well you don`t accidently keep saying somethings going to happen when theres no chance of it, it wouldn`t be on your mind enough.
Myabe it will come, maybe it won’t…….i haven’t really tried mass effect…….i dont even know if its a good game

this game isn’t a console exclusive, because it comes out on PC.
it is most a MS Exclusive because would be released on Windows & Xbox360, not for MAC or Linux!
A console exclusive game is one coming only to Xbox360 / PS3 & WII or any consoles but no PC
when it is a dedicated console exclusive we call it an Xbox/Xbox360 or PS/PS3 Exclusive.
now as for ME2 … was 1st announced on a lot of site as a console exclusive
check out info also on JEUXVIDEO DOT FR & do a search for it, you’ll find it is somehow for the 2 Next-Gen beasts & so way before E3.
During E3 no PS3 version was mentioned yet afterwards seems like they said no but didn’t comment on a possible PS3 Version.
During last week i’ve seen rumors of a YES, will be on PS3 & somehow on French GT channel: GAMEONE that NO it won’t be on PS3, it is an MS Exclusive.
So too bad for it, i would love to play it on my PS3, but if it doesn’t come my way, i may think of getting it on PC if i do the upgrade (depends on Diablo III release!)
Still, too bad for Bioware, for they are ignoring the 20 millions PLUS PS3 Owners & growing for now, while they keep being exclusive to two platforms where the level of piracy is still alarming.

^I find that less than convincing, especially considering how they’ve refused to comment so many times before. Only now when the guy accidentally slipped up and said the PS3 port was probable do they promptly issue a statement for damage control. 2k insisted Bioshock wouldn’t come to the PS3 either, and then it did; didn’t it?
I still think they intend to release ME for the PS3 some months later.
