Gamer Sets Grand Theft Auto IV World Record
Have you ever thought your nightlong gaming sessions were hardcore? As the sun rose in the morning, after a full night of gaming, did you consider yourself one of gaming’s elite? Most likely you did not play as long as Chirantan Patnaik, who just broke the Guinness World record for continuous play troughs on Grand Theft Auto 4.
Patnaik played for a jaw-dropping 40 hours, 20 minutes. This shattered the previous mark, held by an American, who had a mere 28 hours. On his record, Patnaik said:
“There are so many other games which I have played for long hours.
But I had never tried playing this particular game seriously. However, I knew that I can do it after I saw my brother playing it.”

GTA IV got me boring pretty quick. I could play CounterStrike, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 DoTA for more than 2days straight. Yeah! I’ve tried that before.
GTA IV was really boring for me, but I would go with Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice, Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone, UT3, Pokemon Leafgreen, Pokemon Diamond, Fallout 3 GOTY, Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, GT5 Prologue, Sonic Unleashed
is this for multiplayer, single player, or an accumulation of both. Whichever one it was, GTA4 is a terrible game

I could play Killzone 2 or Fallout 3 for more than 2 days straight. Easy!!!!!!
I liked GTAIV. But I don’t think I liked it that much to waste over forty hours straight on it. Why? People like this really sadden me. Gaming is a hobby; it shouldn’t consume your life or make you do things abnormally. That’s when it crosses the line and becomes a sickness. I would never sacrifice my well-being for a game.
I like GTA4. But good grief. The biggest thing that pissed me off with GTA4 was the trophy patch. I put about 50 hrs(definately not continuously, lol) into the game, then the Trophy patch hit, and I get no trophies. I would have to start over. BullS**t! Anyways, sorry for the rant, Good job, dude.
Get me building LBP levels and I could do it!

Agreed with ZemaOner, LBP hardcore I could do it, but I wouldn’t want to.
Talk to any hardcore MMO player and they have done it at least once.
When EverQuest was in it’s Hayday I did a 24hrs++ stretch. I don’t remember exactly how long because that was a while ago, but it was a seriously addicting game at the time.
Now I don’t play MMO’s because I find them too addicting, and suck up all my gaming time. lol
Despite all the people mysteriously disappointed with GTA IV, I loved it. But I can’t even give this guy props.
Diablo II and Harvest Moon 64 I’ve played for over 2 nights and 3 days without sleep. Give me a supportive girlfriend and I’ll crush that dude’s record. I’d have a lot of trophies to earn on that game and I need someone to read me the tips for how to get some of those trophies.

I couldn’t stay awake for 40 hours btw.
A couple Redbulls and some paid days off from work and this record would be an easy one to beat. Longest I ever stayed up was 82 hours ( using no stimulants) so 40 would be a walk in the park.
