Could this be the final package?
Gran Turismo 5 isn’t due out until this coming Spring. But the potential casing for the final product may have already been spotted in the video below. The surprising part is that Gran Turismo 5 might be comprised of multiple Blu-Ray discs.

1,2...3 discs!
As can be seen in the above screen capture from a promotional Mercedes-Benz video, the packaging for Gran Turismo 5 will house three discs. This may be part of a promotional package or special bundle, though there is no way to tell since the cover does not appear to mention a limited or collector’s edition. As massive of a game as Gran Turismo 5 is shaping up to be, even with over 1000 cars, 20 tracks and all the audio it will contain, it likely fits onto a dual-layer 50 GB Blu-Ray disc. So perhaps these are bonus videos, documentaries, etc.. With the game still a number of months away, it is anyone’s guess if this is the final game or a promotional edition.

i think this is a special edition package. But maybe its not and we just get the special edition for the normal price. That would be sweet =)

What i’m really confused by, is why they would go for 1000 cars but only 20 tracks. I don’t see who would want to wait like 5 years just to get bored racing before you unlock 20% of the cars. 3 discs would be justified if there was something worthwhile taking up all that space and personally, street legal sedans aren’t really my idea of worthwhile in a racing game.

It’s 20 tracks with a variety of layouts, which brings the “tracks” count to around 70.

I think the blue and red “discs” are actually books. Or the fact that top one is the only one that looks like a game case.

@Max Power
I think they might actually be just space fillers possibly, if they aren’t books which they do somewhat look like(both have white on the bottom, possible pages showing.), but lack of writing makes me think they might be just empty cases or something filling space for the moment.

those are just blu-ray commentaries and bonus stuff such as the SF4 and metal gear solid 4 special edition

Sony can by a firmware make the PS3 read higher capacity disk… the only reason they havent was because no one was making any BD bigger than 50…not anymore. also wouldnt surprise me if they release GT5 with a 100GB BD and unlock via firmware next year

I do not think it’s going to be more then one disk, or Sony is saying a Blu-Ray is no bigger then a HD DVD disk, and we all know that the Crap Box use’s that, So GT better keep one disk,
Signed

I don’t know who you are signed Adam but Crap Boxes use DVD disks. The HD DVD thing was an external attachment and well… BluRay disks can go over 300GB using PS3 compatibile tech. So… I don’t know where you got your facts from but you really need to update your info. Not trying to be rude or anything but this was last years information maybe even the year before.

Guys sorry to say but this is old news and already debunked. its two other books for some sort of collectors or special edition.
October 22nd, 2009 at 11:26 AM
ya I’m sure that’s just a special edition with some extra movies and junk
October 22nd, 2009 at 3:55 PM
maybe its one disc for the 1,000 cars, a second disk for the 20 tracks, and a third disc for the audio…

I’m with JohnnyTruant here I would think there would be more tracks. Even if those 20 are done in reverse that doesn’t make them new it just makes them playable in reverse. My main gripe with most racing games is not the cars usually so much as I get bored racing the same tracks over an over again. And also like JT said some of the lamer cars are just a waste of time , here’s looking at you Cappuccino.

Do we know when we might see the U.S. release of this yet? If its March in Japan, I’m guessing November for U.S. to setup an enormous Holiday 10.
