Steambot Studios is a relatively new digital visual development company with one trademark in mind: “We Design Universes”. Starting with the release of an art book last year, dubbed Exodyssey, the development studio is looking to expand its visions into a full-blown virtual universe on the PlayStation 3. In conjunction with Bluepoint Games (developer of Blast Factor and the God of War Collection), Steambot Studios is looking to do just that on the PlayStation 3.

According to the studio’s Steamblog, the two development houses have collaborated to produce a real-time demo running on PlayStation 3 hardware. Unfortunately, there is currently no publisher or investors for the future “action-adventure AAA title”:

“The prototype was done in a very short period of time and shows our intentions in terms of graphics and gameplay… We are now looking for a publisher and potential investors to start working on this next action-adventure AAA title.”

To get an idea of the universe Steambot is striving to create, here is the official trailer for the Exodyssey artbook:

Story comes first, then the pretty pictures. Unfortunately, a good, original story is the hard part.

why are you speaking in 2’s? we knowing about this for months now..

@solidcake don’t bother trying to compare video games with films. It’s not a very good idea. You can’t hire actors and then write a story for them to play.

Brutal Legend was one of those games where the creative process was drawing “pretty pictures” more articulately known as “concept art” and then they started to make stories and lore about the drawings. In otherwords they gathered inspiration from the drawings and the first few years of the game’s development was just drawing stuff during freetime and it eventually came out to be an interesting game with solid/good 8.4 metacritic rating based on 54 critic reviews.

So you can’t argue with results. So in other words, don’t compare the creative process of 1 art form to another. You don’t create movies in the same way you make songs, nor do you make video games in the same way you paint. They all have different ways to get from start to finish and you can’t innovate by doing the same thing time and time again.
