the game was solid and beautiful to look at but at the end I found myself just finding the shortest possible way to get to the championship and winning and then I didn’t feel the need to keep playing. I think it was the lack of an actual story, like the old NFS Underground or Most Wanted games used to have, that left me just rushing to get it over with. Usually if a racing game has some sort of story to it I can play through the story and then still want to go back and play some meaningless races, but with Shift there was no story so every race felt meaningless…except that it got you one step closer to being the winner of the championship series.

I’m sorta looking forward to Mod Nation and that other racer that is like running man, the cult film.
If I decide to get serious racing I’ll stick with GT. This demo was nice, but didn’t make me want to buy.
