When Brutal Legend was released only a few weeks ago, thousands of fans were excited to play the unique heavy metal based comical hack-and-slasher. The demo which was released on the PSN only a week prior gave the game a lot of deserved attention, and so far sales have been great for Double Fine Productions. Although the game was relatively short, new DLC has been announced which should help give the game some needed re-playability.
Double Fine Productions have officially announced DLC for Brutal Legend titled “Tears of the Hextadon”, which consists of 2 maps for the multiplayer stage battles. The maps included are called Circle of Tears and Death’s Fjord. The first is based in a circular battlefield entrenched in water, and the latter is based in a mountain pass. As an added bonus, those who purchase the DLC will also receive a free ingame axe called the Blade of Ormagöden.
To top that all off, those who own the PlayStation 3 version of Brutal Legend will have access to download the DLC for free during the first 2-weeks of release. The DLC will become available via PSN on November 5th, and will remain free until November 19th.
“I play Brütal Legend online every night and I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death’s Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and… Well, actually I just thought the name was cool. See you online!”
- Tim Schafer, President of Double Fine Productions
Nice to finally see PS3 users getting some perks over the 360.
Hell even 360 users get screwed most times since the free content is usually for Gold member only.
YAY! FREE STUFF! Eat that 360 fanboys! I loved this game and I didn’t really think the game was that short….although I did go and try to find every hidden thing in the world which probably extended it a few hours. I would love to see some single player DLC too with more cool solos or something, but I suppose I have to wait for the sequel for that which I thought was set up by the ending….
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that it was supposed to be free for the first two weeks for the 360 too but MS is too greedy to let that happen. Epic wanted the Gears DLC to be free, EA wanted the L4D DLC to be free [like it is on PC..]; but MS wouldn’t allow that since it gets a cut from every sale and it wants all the money it can get.
EA probably wanted this free for both platforms for the first two weeks to promote the game in general [rather than any specific platform] but MS wouldn’t let them.
But then again, maybe I am wrong and Sony paid EA or something; who knows…..
I agree with Mendax. Although it could also mean to push sales since it is really shadowed by PS3 exclusives namely Uncharted 2.
That is awesome that we get for free.
Yeah, totally bad release timing… Any word on an upcoming review PSLS?
