2009 saw the inaugural Gaming categories within the Roses Design Awards. Glasgow, UK based animation specialists Axis were delighted to pick up six nominations for recent work, including Killzone 2, F1 2009 and Rogue Warrior.
The Axis team was even more delighted to win Gold in the Best Use of Animation category for the Killzone 2 trailer, which was directed by Stuart Aitken and Produced by Debbie Ross for client Sony Computer Entertainment and Guerrilla Games.
‘It is great to see all types of gaming and games marketing sitting alongside more traditional forms of design and communications’ says Axis Executive Producer Richard Scott. ‘It just reinforces how deep gaming is penetrating into the mainstream consciousness. We are delighted to see the hard work and creativity that’s behind promoting and marketing games being recognized.’
‘Killzone 2 was one of our most ambitious projects to date.’ Says Director Stuart Aitken. ‘The whole team put in a lot of hard work to create a piece of animation that had drama, action and amazing attention to detail. It’s great to see all that effort getting recognition.’
Killzone 2 is just one of a range of recent titles Axis have been involved in creating trailers and marketing content for. Others include Motorstorm Arctic Edge, Brink, Mass Effect 2 and Colin McRae Dirt 2.

My only complaint about KZ2 is the constant dark feel.
