By now you’ve no doubt heard that Netflix members can instantly stream movies and TV shows to their TV via the PlayStation 3. We’ve created a quick and simple how-to guide for anyone interested in taking advantage of the service and start streaming now!

First off, you must own a PlayStation 3 and be a member of Netflix. Next you’ll want to head over to http://www.netflix.com/ps3 to request a completely free instant streaming disc for your PS3. The disc will then we delivered for free (usually one day after requested).

Once you’ve received your instant streaming disc from Netflix, just insert the disc into your PS3 and select the Netflix icon under the Video tab of the Xross Media Bar (XMB) to begin instantly streaming movies and TV episodes directly to your TV.

It’s a beast son, even more of one once they decide to increase the instant watch library. I mean all they’d have to do is like keep classics and cult classics and maybe some indie films and other than that only the most recent titles.

Well my local video store that I regularly went to just closed down. So i had options like RedBox, going to BlockBuster…. but recently decided on Netflix. So far I like the instant videos that I can play on my laptop. I just hope the videos that you can play on the PS3 run just as smoothly.

My real hope is one day they can integrate a Netflix to be able to share a viewing experience with some friends on-line. That would be very cool.

Maybe even some integration with HOME space with friends. There are some opportunities for Sony and Netflix to explore.

I ordered my disc this morning so it should be here this morning…can’t say how much I will use the feature though. I’ve been a Netflix member for about 3 years and have only used their instant watching feature once. I’ve never been very impressed with their library of instant titles. They should start putting every new movie up…they would save postage and I wouldn’t have to wait for anything. Although, I already have it timed perfectly so that I ALWAYS get the best new releases on the day they are supposed to hit store shelves.
