With the PlayStation 3 being out a full three years, there has been copious amounts of impressive and memorable characters. What best compliments a great hero, with an awesome, badass villain? With so many villains, even attempting to compile a best of list would be a nightmare. Luckily, PlayStation LifeStyle has worked tirelessly to amass a list of the top PS3 villains.
The captions contain spoilers…..Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
1) Liquid Ocelot – Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots

One of the main characters to the 2008 Game of the Year, Liquid Ocelot notched the top spot not only for his mindless brutality, but also for his unyielding assault against the unstoppable forces of the Patriots. His badassery is found not only in MGS4, but the entire series. Reattaching an arm of someone long dead, is not only creepy; it’s awesome.
When he single handedly took control of the Patriots’ weapon control network, and unleashed his wrath upon the helpless American soldiers, was pure awesome. At least for me, I genuinely felt sorry for the soldiers. Throughout the course of Metal Gear Solid 4, and even throughout the entire series, Ocelot has shown time and time again that he is the ultimate PlayStation 3 badass.
2) Zoran Lazarevic – Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves

Yes, the main who will stop at nothing to acquire the sacred Cintamani Stone, Lazarevic fell just short of Liquid Ocelot for the top spot. This man would really do anything to acquire the item he’s been obsessing over. Not only does his action speak for himself, but, standing out in this list, his facial features speak for them self–he is a bad ass. His desire for the hallowed Stone, he essentially induced a Nepalese civil war.
In the end, Lazarevic got what he deserved– a brutal death by the hands of the guardian soldiers of the Tree of Life.
3) Imran Zakhaev – Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare

Zakhaev is well known for his role in 2007’s Game of the Year. Being a member of the Russian Ultranationalist party, Zakhaev is not someone you’d want to mess with. He’s hellbent on restoring the old Soviet Russia, eliminating the Western culture, that he believes, is “prostituting” modern Russia. His badassery is so great, he survives a shot from a British SAS sniper (only to lose his left arm). To divert attention from a possible civil war, he funds a military coup in a Middle Eastern country. The coup draws the attention of British and American forces, eventually leading to the detonation of a nuclear weapon. Panic definitely ensues.
When his son, dies, Imran goes haywire and demands SAS and US Marine Corp forces to leave Russia, or he would use the nuclear forces he controlled, and attack the eight east coast American cities (an estimated 41 million would die). He eventually launched the ICBMs, however, American and British forces were able to secure the silo and deactivate the ICBMs.
4) Scolar Visari – Killzone 2

The emperor of the Helghast, Scolar Visari claimed our #4 spot the moment he detonated a nuclear bomb, on his own planet. Sure, a substantial amount of ISA forces were killed, but presumably, a larger amount of his own citizens were killed. A master at oratory, Visari managed to sway the public opinion towards his favor, and rose to power. Concentrating on propaganda, he massively increased the size of the military; not caring for the welfare of his citizens.
He then began to devise a plan to take over Vekta, a neighboring Earth-like planet. Fortunately, his plans were for naught. The ISA forces repelled his attack and sent him and his soldiers back to Helghan.
Before the ISA invaded Helghan, he made sure he had the public completely brainwashed. He ensured this by bombarding the general populous with anti-ISA propaganda. Even though Visari garnered ample public support, he still was adamant when he flaunted his violent nature.
The ISA invasion eventually led to the nuclear explosion, the one that he ordered to detonate. Countless soldiers and equipment were wiped out. This proved to be a last ditch effort, as Visari was killed by Sergeant Rico.
5) King Bohan – Heavenly Sword

King Bohan, of Heavenly Sword fame, and his ultimate desire to acquire the game’s Heavenly Sword, is the reason why he finishes off our Top 5 list. His rash and usually fatal decisions to destroy the game’s locale and citizens is not only vicious, is badass. Once he gains control of Nariko’s father, and the sword, all hell breaks loose, and it is your job to restore peace and harmony to the game’s universe.
Andy Serkis (who plays Gollum in Lord of the Rings) does the voice-acting and motion capture for King Bohan, and effectively brings the evil villain to life in one of the best performances yet on the PlayStation 3.

Why do I always think of Resident Evil 4 when I see Imran Zakhaev from Call of Duty 4?

Funny you say that. Even google image search has that issue.
Oh and I’ve changed the pic, it actually was a guy from RE4 until one of my staff members pointed that out.
Now it’s the actual Imran Zakhaev, who looks exactly the same.

Visari gives me chills. Maybe I’m just a sap, but his speech at the end of KZ2 was amazing.

I would have to agree with all of these. Great list.

Good list but I would think Scolar visari is scarier than Lozarovic.

What! No Dr Nefarious? It’s a fix!

I agree with all except the Call of Duty guy I don’t remember even though I played the campaign a couple of times. Very unrememberable.

I don’t really think the Call of Duty guy should make it just because he isn’t a PS3 exclusive villain…I wanted a list with only PS3 villains…and I think Dr. Nefarious would make the list iCubPro…or the entire alien race in Resistance, I can’t remember their actual name at this time.

I’m with wtGp, Ocelot was actually THE good guy.
Just an FYI.

i was hoping someone would mention that, thanks wtGp.
And King Bohan was excellent. That whole game, i felt, met underwhelming marks because everyone just equated it to a GoW rip off.

I only wish that WoW was on PS3 so that I could vote Ozzy Osbourne as a perfect bad-ass villian. I mean, just look at him in those old commercials.
