Makai is right- ps3 is really sony gtting the feel for what they’re behind on, and eventually they’ll start making a list (like santa claus!!) and perfecting features for a system that becomes a fully rounded entertainment beast- not a clunky interface that needs to be constantly updated.

Note- i’m fine with the PS3 now becuase there’s nothing else that beats it- i just know that by the time #4 comes around, the requirements are going to be mcuh more than “Cool games!” and “internets!”

I dont expect sony to release ps4 until maybe after 2016. just think of how much money sony would lose if they released a console this early in the ps3 life, i mean ps3 is doing good in the past few months but they still need more time to get more profit. and there are still alot of great exclusives that need to be released like gran torismo, gow3 and maybe uncharted 3 and even sequels to the other great games like heavenly sword and demons soul. even if microsoft makes a new console ps3 will be able to compete with it

I believed I read that Sony would be planning to release it around 2012. As long as they would keep the cell (upgraded), they would be fine, and not much R&D cost would be needed this time.

becasue sony gives away information on future consoles to an unknown dutch website. I doubt this and i reckon the above picture is a fake for one reason, hardware and glass DOES NOT MIX! It’ll get way too hot and the hotter glass gets the easier it is to break.

Also their basing this information on the fact that the PS3 is the top of the range for graphics, the change from the gamecube to the wii was completly differant and the same is true for the XBOX and the XBOX 360 and the PS2 and the PS3. The previous generation gives us NO insight as to what games companies will do as we don’t have no idea.

actually I hope I don’t hear any confirmation details about PS4 specs anytime soon because that means the end of the PS3 life cycle is in sight. I don’t want to see the PS4 for at least another 4 years. I still don’t think we have seen the best graphics that the PS3 can produce…devs are just now really starting to get the hang of programming for it so things can only get better.

With this part of the article it would look more targeted towards portables: The Series 6 shall receive an official announcement from IMGTEC sometime in 2010, with initial models targeting the smartphone and netbook sectors.

I would guess that if Sony was doing something with it they would use it in their smartphones or even a new PSP.

Of course the PS4 will have superior graphics chips. I mean look at the cell processor. Nothing competes with that beast.

Furthermore what else could they really improve?

It has blutooth, wifi, upgradeable HDD, Blu-Ray, gigabit ethernet, I mean the PS3 is a full featured beast. The only thing they can do is just upgrade a few things here and there… like disk read speed, 3.5″ HDD support, Wireless N (probably 100 percent unneccessary), maybe a fire wire plug but for what exactly?

How much more could they upgrade the blue-tooth that they would need anything more but a firmware update?

Other than incrimental upgrades and a shit load of RAM and VRAM there’s very little else to add.

I think honestly though that for the PS4 they won’t release it until the PS3 fully matures. We’re talking Home would have to be fully functional so that they can start incoporating it into the experience including the ability to have better chatrooms from the PS3, we’re talking video streaming in Home or from your XMB to your friends, Your friend’s Home Avatars being able to be toggled on and off as well as a dynamic Home theme where your friends can walk around and do chat behind the XMB, native and epic Xgame voice chat, I think the PS4 will be a culmination of everything they’ve learned with the PS3 and they won’t release the PS4 until they take everything they’ve learned from hard times on the PS4 and impliment it in a way that will blow people’s minds.

Or maybe I’m wrong and Sony needs to read this and get me on board so that I can make sure that the PS4 is the ONLY worthwhile system to get next gen.
