Anyone else see the disaster with this? forget the pros/cons of a umd reader, but given the chance and the PSP’s history, this thing could be the ticket for a hacker’s UMD converter.

Oh, hey, I used to have a subcompact notebook computer that worked like that. Plug a floppy drive in the PCMCIA slot because there’s no room for a drive in the actual computer.

Being a owner of the original PSP 1000 who was looking to pick up a PSPGo. This isn’t that bad of and idea. I’ll buy a PSPGo if this is released that way i can play PSP Gran turismo UMD on my newly purchased PSPGo with a blue tooth connected PS3 controller. (fingers are crossed for this ad on)

@Natie. Why in hell would you get a go AND a disc reader (at any price) when you could just get a PSP 3000 (or the new 4000) for what will certainly be less money? It’s stupid.

l thought this was a good idea at first but then l thought it was bad one. The Go has 16GB of space, why not use that space for digital games in the 1st place

This idea is great, as long as the price is low. Because of the price of the PSPgo is soo high, it only makes sense that this add-on be low price to add more consumers. It’s basically for the backward compatiablity and if that’s what new owners missing than this is what is needed to get new buys. Seems like a great idea, anyone that thinks otherwise isn’t a fan of sony getting new users throught it. I thinging that this is a great idea to convert those that are stand offish because of this problem with the new platform. Please, if anyone disagrees than tell me the downside to this addition. It makes me reconsider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a dumb idea. You are one of two people. A person that bought the Go not having a PSP, or someone who upgraded. Either way, you decided that you could live without a UMD drive. By the way, I have had the go (upgraded from PSP 2K) since day 1.
1) I’m very happy with it.
2) I’m not getting any UMD drive gadget.

I am still waiting for the GPS add-on that Sony promised last year. And since I have a PSP 2000 I don’t need this but for those that traded in their UMD enabled portables it would make the tech bleeding a little less painful, especially if they have a large library of games on UMDs…

a lot of people can get psp games for cheap that would cost less irl, but since it will be removeable the go is as portable as before so it could work very well if made right

Getting this thing, is like buying one of those huge phone piece like Blutooth adapters.

At the very most it’d allow someone to buy a PSP Go and play the games they have until they exist on UMD-less mediums, but the whole point of the GO is either to have bluetooth which will probably be in the PSP 4000, or to have a smaller unit so it’s more portable…

The sad thing is there is a market for this I’m sure since people usually buy things just to have them… rather than to use them…

I sold most of my UMD games and I’ve bought a few PSN games. When the time comes for PSP Go I will be ready.

I don’t know about this…I think people who would want this add on would have just gone out and bought the original PSP to begin with. I don’t see many people wanting to carry around an additional little piece of hardware.
