Hoping to import an ultra-rare limited edition Final Fantasy XIII “Lightning Pink PS3″ on December 17th when the much-anticipated RPG is released in Japan? With the PS3 costing more in Japan along with some unforeseen circumstances in regards to the allocation of units from Square-Enix, be prepared to pay a pretty penny for the pretty-in-pink “Lightning PS3″…
Final Fantasy XIII PS3 bundle will available alongside the game when its finally available to eager Final Fantasy fans in the land of the rising sun. To much dismay, the sun isn’t the only thing that’s rising on December 17th when the game releases. The price will also be raised, thanks to massive demand and a shortage in supply from Square-Enix.
The only Japanese retailer holding advance pre-orders of the limited edition PS3 bundle has raised the price of the bundle from $529.90 to a whopping $709.90. That’s even more expensive when the PlayStation 3 originally launched back in November 2006. It’s also right around the amount these rare consoles are fetching on Ebay.
So if you want to own one of these rare pieces of Final Fantasy heritage, be prepared to fork over a nice wad of cash.

I forgot how badass those white dualshock 3′s are. Are they making white slims in japan or is it special for this design?
A pretty penny indeed
looks pretty nice to me
I would like to see other colors here in the US but White might be hotter internally and why X-bots blow room filling hot air…

@SPD55
Nice science Bill Nye, if anything white would be cooler.
I want it.
@ JohnnyTruant5
The White Pads are available all over Asia. I’m based in Hong Kong and have a couple. They sell for same price as the regular ones.
I take it they are yet to make it over there? Strange.
for that price, they can keep it.
@unicronic
we have red and blue at least, maybe some stores import them but none where I live.
Ermmm, dunno how to say this, but that PS3 is WHITE with a pink picture emblazoned on it!
PSLS dumbness strikes again!
$709? How sad is it when a console is nearly the same price as a car? Also they know it’s white with a pink picture on it. PSLS User dumbness strikes again!
@St Anger – Oh my god! They missed an extremely unimportant technical point!! their credibility as journalists has just gone to the shitter never to return again!!! Dude! thanks for pointing that out my god I almost just went and bought a WHITE ps3 thinking it was PINK!!
On a more serious note where I’m not ridiculing someone for being a jerk… I simply can’t bring myself to an understanding of why someone would pay up to an extra $400 just for a different colored playstation, and especially a pink one at that. You can buy skins for the ps3 for $20 from tons of websites (and I won’t even throw money away on that), and most of them look cooler. This is kinda obscene.
@ ST ANGER
lol…I see why you are called ANGER. But you have a great point
I can never figure out why they don’t sell white slims (without the pink picture) here in the US. I mean, they’re already making them obviously, so it wouldn’t be a matter of doing anything new. And I bet a ton of people would buy one. Me included.
I don’t get why Sony doesn’t just release a limited edition 800 dollar one from the get go? Or allow people to at least buy them early for 800 dollars. I mean they know people will ebay them that high.
If they were to go “You can get this at retail cost, or you can pay 2x as much and get it 2 months earlier…
They’d have a win win. The people willing to wait, will, the people who want it now, will be really profitable, and ebay sales would have to go up to like 3x the price which would make it harder to ebay them. I’m sure some would pay 1200 for it, but…
Seriously Sony take a cut for yourself here.
That is way too much money for any PS3.

@makai
that’s ridiculous, think of how much bad feed sony would get for a stunt like that. No way they would or should do that- people would have a field day with sony raising their prices again just to get more money from desperate people.
Secondly, I am no one to talk on uselessness of different colored PS3s….. seeing as how i woke up one morning, checked my inbox and found i sleepily bought a gun metal gray 80 gig ps3 for $400…..
