November is one of the biggest months in terms of shopping, especially due to Black Friday which officially kicks off the holiday shopping season. Because of this, the gaming industry is focused on the upcoming Novembers NPD sales data which will clear up exactly which console sold the best.
According to a prediction by the infamous Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, the PS3 is going to top the Xbox 360 for the first time since the release of Sony’s beast of a console.
This seems very likely especially due to the 440,000 PS3s sold during the week ending 11/26/09, a figure that included the spectacular Black Friday bundles which sold out almost immediately.
Pachter also expects the PlayStation 3 to continue to sell the Xbox 360 throughout the month of December, prompting another Xbox 360 price drop early into 2010.
Below are Pachter’s full NPD predictions, be sure to check out PlayStation LifeStyle on December 10th when November’s NPD sales data is released.
I honestly do not think 650K of Xbox 360 was sold in the US last month.
yea, i think the xbox numbers will be closer to 500K
Either way how in the in world in what time frame is the PS3 goin to overtake the 360? Just through these holidays? I already know of atleast 2 of my friends that are getting a PS3, which I am happy about because they are actual games because the friend that I did have that I knew were just casual and only got online like once a month or so for a weekend or so. I wanna see my actual personal friends atleast pop on daily or everyother day. No, that last time the logged on 29 days ago. I should just delete them right, cause they don’t respond to messages and don’t have many games period for multiplay anyways.
They better hurry. The Jonas Brothers and Disney Channel are going 360!
Which is pretty stupid on Disney’s part. If they are so big on Blu-ray and Steve Jobs is a big shareholder and all that jazz.
In all honesty, the PS3′s recent price drop gained it a lot of attention. I think people are finally realizing what is actually the best value overall. It only does everything.
can we stop with the microsoftphobia for a minute and realise the truley worrying fact that nintendo made a million! HOW? They shouldn’t even be counted as a games company as they don’t even make proper video games anymore!
wii and ds is still selling a lot?? wow..
i guess ps3 and psp would have sold a lot more if they aimed more at kids below 10 and girls. at the moment all i can think of is eyepet. which is only fun for a couple of hours.
i know nintendo doesnt make any good games… the only good games lately was new super mario bros
but for the most part yeah ps3 will dominate!!!!!
hello …
PS3 going strong, & yes Nintendo still lead!
I too can predict things
Nintendo will WIIn this gen console war …
the PS3 will come 3rd before the Xbox360
Yet gaming side, leaving the WII & DS apart … the PS3 will sell more & more just because of it’s great lineup.
i’m so happy!
cheers!
As far as im concerned, Nintendo aren’t inn this gen console war, because the Wii isn’t a console! Its an outdated, under-specced, fitness machine for fatties, women and young kids.
I hate the Nintendo Wii. It’s a god awful games machine that spews out rehash after rehash with different covers over n over again! My niece has 1, and while i was babysitting her the other day, she wanted to have a game on it with me, but i wasnt interested in the slightest! I like relaxing with a control pad in my hand, not shake my arse in front of a motion sensor trying to make Mario jump on a bloody mushroom.
I dont know 1 person that likes video games who owns a wii! Only fatties, women and kids. That in itself is enough evidence that Nintendo is NOT involved in this gen of consoles in my opinion!
i guess things will change once the playstation wand comes out.. wii games ported to ps3!! lol.
then there will be more ps3 sold for casual gamers..
atleast its good that sony has first priority for hardcore games.
@xST-ANGERx
I dont think your from the US, but in case you didnt know, were the fattest country in the world. Makes sense now since according to you thats a HUGE part of their install base. I agree.
how are there this many people left who need wiis? 1 per household is plenty, right?… millions sold each month…. i’m at a loss.
