Ever since Firmware 3.10, users have been complaining about issues with syncing Bluetooth-enabled devices with the PlayStation 3. This includes Bluetooth headsets, keyboards, even Dualshock 3 PS3 controllers. Just announced is a minor firmware update that will resolve these issues. That’s not all, Sony is also sneaking in a “mini” sized treat in this firmware update.
Along with the aforementioned Bluetooth syncing fix, the option 3.15 firmware update will also enable PSP minis to be playable on the PS3. Any minis you may have purchased thus far will be playable on the PS3, you’ll just have to go into your download list, and re-download the titles.
PS3 firmware update 3.15 is said to be “coming soon” but is rumored to be arriving on December 10th. Stick with PlayStation LifeStyle for more news on this firmware update.

so can we download the minis directly to the ps3 and play them on it? that would be pretty cool.
12/08/2009 at 9:12 PM
Yep, that is exactly how you do it.
December 8th, 2009 at 12:05 PM
Sweet… I’m just waiting for built-in Netflix support… having to switch out discs constantly is becoming a pain
December 8th, 2009 at 12:24 PM
you can also hook up a phat & a slim using LAN and transfer all your stuff over, neato.
December 8th, 2009 at 1:39 PM
Now all they need to do is fix the trophy sync issue
December 8th, 2009 at 1:52 PM
@Adam Wolfe
or better yet, universal in-game music, chat, and some new f***ing avatars for god sake.
December 8th, 2009 at 2:03 PM
hay Sev, do you have any idea of when we might get new avatars?
12/08/2009 at 9:14 PM
They were originally pegged for a summer release, around E3. I think they’ve been pushed back to launch with the “premium PSN”.

Hey, TheHater, I hate to say this, but I believe Microsoft OWNS the patent for universal in-game music on a video game console. Developers have the option to include it in their PS3 games, so if it’s in a game, then it’s b/c the developers wanted it in there.
I believe most developers don’t b/c the fact that they pay someone ALL that money for the soundtrack/ compose a score and don’t want someone playing Lady Ga Ga over their work, LOL.
December 8th, 2009 at 2:57 PM
@Thomas Williams
MS may own the patent, but there is ways of going around it. Plus most of the sound track for games are crap. Why can’t I play custom music in sports, racing, fighting, and only games?
December 8th, 2009 at 3:18 PM
@TheHater
why do you keep asking for something you already know the answer to? go post on the official fourm and ask eric…
December 8th, 2009 at 3:38 PM
Yes Mr. Lempel will personally take the time to answer your question………
December 8th, 2009 at 3:41 PM
MS own the patent? How can you own the patent? This is why i hate MS, before they came into the games industry nobody owned anything but games franchises and even then the transition from one console to another was easy.
December 8th, 2009 at 3:42 PM
You can also do PS3 to PS3 data transfer so you can copy and delete as you like, games, videos etc. However, one cannot copy/transfer over copy-protected game saves due to publisher’s requirements.

@Thehater
Do you seriously not have an ipod or something else you can listen to? They make mp3 players for like 20 dollars now give these guys a break. Instead of b****ing at sony for not making the feature specifically to your liking, try lobbying for making it mandatory like trophies, and then design a music player that can be easily added onto any game without causing problems, because sony sure as s*** isn’t going to do it just to make you happy
December 8th, 2009 at 3:55 PM
@TheHater.
Hey man, that’s how they’re working around it, by giving the developer the option to include it in the game or not, ya know?
December 8th, 2009 at 4:16 PM
more g** s***…. who wants to play minis on their ps3! not useful…again!
December 8th, 2009 at 4:44 PM
@JohnnyTruant5
yes I do have an MP3 player and my computer is always on. But I would prefer to have universal in-game music so I don’t have to keep my computer on all the time when I want t listen to music and playing games.
@shadowjin
I did, but no use. you know Eric don’t respond to user comments.
December 8th, 2009 at 4:57 PM
@JohnnyTruant5
in this update now you can with another ps3
December 8th, 2009 at 6:23 PM
@Thehater
If your computer is always on anyway you have a better way to get to your music and don’t need to complain. If your computer is on BECAUSE you’re listening to music, then you’re not using your mp3 player correctly. You have this problem solved yourself but all you can do is sit there and whine? You aren’t in diapers anymore, come on, show us you can do something for yourself here…
Maybe if you asked for something other than something that’s been asked every day the past year, and has already been allowed to work? Try asking how hard it would be to make custom playlists mandatory for all games, or if there was a tool they could put in the dev kit that could help with this.

@TheHater
Go to dollar stores or online and buy the following.
3.5 MM audio jack to composite Red and Yellow cable,
2 stereo to mono composite cables
A cheap dock that will work for your needs. (optional)
and then hook it up.
You take the 3.5mm and hook it to your MP3 player, take the end of that cable and hook it into one side of each of the stereo 2 mono composite cables, hook up the PS3 to the other side, and plug the composite to stereo into the PS3. Now go into a game, put the music all the way down, and press play on your MP3 player.
We do have custom soundtracks enabled. Companies like people to listen to the music that they themselves spent money and time either creating or liscensing. I play a lot of RPGs so I listen to a lot of podcasts and when I’m playing a game I”m sitting right next to my computer…
If you don’t like my alternative then I guess you could always just learn an appreciation for musical scores and some of the liscensed music… Or you could just use the rage you apparently feel for having to listen to music you don’t like in order to work harder so that you no longer have to listen to it.
December 8th, 2009 at 7:07 PM
@the Hater
don’t worry…plenty of people are yelling at sony about the chat, music, and avatars…Sony is just really slow. Remember how long it took for trophy support? and that was the easy part
December 8th, 2009 at 7:12 PM
so I guess this is the forum to b**** at The Hater??? ok then…BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH STUPID TheHater!!!
can we get over it now, instead of feeding the fire just let him sit there whining…Anyway, this is pretty cool. I will always welcome new firmware updates.

@giese
He doesn’t say stupider funnier things if I don’t poke at him, you should be thanking me.
December 8th, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Looking forward to the controller fix. Mine still get dropped and need to be synced again….real pain in the ass Sony.
I am looking forward to the PS3->PS3 file transfer. I own a slim and a fat and I hate always using a thumbdrive to transfer saves around. Don’t know how this will go from account to account smoothly since when one PS3 logs in with your ID the other is forced off.
December 8th, 2009 at 11:50 PM
@DGRC
thats the point …hey already said that it was due to come out around summer untill it got pushed back.
December 9th, 2009 at 5:37 AM
How the f*** can M$ own the patent for in game music? Thats the biggest load of bulls*** i’ve ever heard! Show me some solid proof that this is the case and i’ll believe it, until then, i think it’s the most absurd thing i’ve ever heard! U cant own the idea for in game music.
If you could own things like this, then dont M$ and Sony owe BILLIONS of dollars to the guy who first dreamed up computer/console gaming? Do car manufacturers pay royalties to the first company to put a stereo in their car, because all the new models and makes have them? Do the descendants of the Wright brothers get a payment everytime an aeroplane is designed with aerofoil shaped wings?
Patent on in-game music indeed! What a load of old tosh!

@ST-Anger – I completely agree with this rant. You can’t patent the ability to have universal music in a piece of hardware, and have it apply to all hardware that exists. Total Bulls***. Thats like patenting the white color in bread, so no one can make white colored bread anymore. All you can patent is a recipe, or in this case, code. XBox uses different code. Not having universal music is purely a Sony internal issue, with them not coding it into the firmware.
On another note… um cool! I guess this would be cooler if there were any mini’s I cared to own. Also, I have had recent issues with my blue tooth headset where the mic doesn’t work, but I can still hear people… I thought it was the headset itself, but maybe its actually the firmware? Hope this fixes it.

@St. Anger and BigWoop
Your problem is with the US patent office NOT microsoft, grow up. If you have a problem with MS legally patenting something, you need to go back to the sandbox and let the big kids live in REALITY. You don’t see patents for those things you mentioned because those are ridiculous examples you chose to make you sound right.
If you don’t understand how these kinds of things work it’s ok, but in that case it isn’t very smart to go on a long winded rant about it. Heres a fun fact, the first “patent” given out in the US was a new way to make salt in 1641. By your logic there would be no other ways to make salt in the united states today.
Do you think that when Sony decided they were going to allow custom soundtracks they thought that almost no devs would use it? No, I’m betting they were a little more optimistic. I don’t know what else you want sony to do…blatantly infringe on the patent costing them millions for absolutely nothing?
By the way here’s the patent: http://www.google.com/patents?id=mx93AAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract&zoom=4&source=gbs_overview_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q=&f=false
Also don’t forget how the ps2 could only play cd’s but the xbox could have music saved on, and played during certain games. This isn’t something they stole from anyone, they were doing this all last gen, really there is no problem with the patent.
