Hideki Kamiya is receiving quite a bit of attention as of late for the up his coming Sega title, Bayonetta. Kamiya has come full circle with the adrenaline fueled gameplay. Recently he spoke with Game Informer about some of his more family friendly previous works with Capcom.
Okami and Viewtiful Joe were both very popular on the PlayStation 2. Many fans of those titles have been scratching their head wondering how longer they would go without a true next gen makeover on these series. Hideki Kamiya tries to clear the air in regards to what we should expect in the future.
“Up until very recently I really felt someday I wanted to make a sequel to Okami, and there were others who wanted me to as well. But then the other day I heard the announcement that someone else would be making a sequel and now I’m just not interested in it anymore. Once someone else touches a world that you yourself created it stops being yours. There is no point in making a sequel when the world doesn’t belong to you. Viewtiful Joe is probably all I’ve got left. That story is incomplete so I’d like to finish it someday. But that would probably be the most difficult one to do [laughs].”

Henshin a Go Go, baby!
“Once someone else touches a world that you yourself created it stops being yours. There is no point in making a sequel when the world doesn’t belong to you.”
Shortly after speaking those words I bet a truck full of irony hit him.
@Johnny – what? I don’t get it.
I think he’s trying to say someone else is going to make a viewtifull joe sequal
Someone else touched DMC, in his eyes making it not his game anymore, but he still decided to make one and call the main character bayonetta.
Just so everyone knows though, I don’t think the games are bad, I just think this guy is hella ridiculous.
I knew what you meant Johnny. It took me a second but I put it together. Maybe he feels he created the world of Devil May Cry.
No i know, he has the right to. But if you say basically “the game isn’t mine anymore, it would be weird” after releasing a DMC game called bayonetta, i’ll laugh at the irony.
Hell yeah Okami sequel.
Boo to creative staff obviously leaving out the creator.
