PS3 Firmware 3.15 Full Change List; Now Live
As mentioned earlier this week, a firmware update (3.15) was coming to fix some issues that had arisen after the 3.10 firmware update. Along with these minor fixes come a few new features such as the ability to play PSP minis on the PS3. Check out the full firmware update details as well as a direct download link after the jump…
- Bluetooth sync issues fixed
- Trophy syncing issue resolved
- PSP Minis now playable on the PS3 (starting December 17th all PSP minis will be playable on the PS3, for now you must go to your download list and re-download any previously purchased PSP minis for them to function on the PS3)
- XBM Icon Added – Minis Save Data Icon
- LAN Data Transfer Utility
1. Turn both the current PS3 (A) and new PS3 (B) on and connect them with a LAN cable; PS3 (A) should be connected to the TV. Please note, firmware (v3.15) must be installed on both systems.
2. On the XMB of PS3 (A), scroll to the Settings category and select [System Settings] and then [Data Transfer Utility]
3. Follow the instructions on-screen and transfer data
4. After transferring the data, follow the instructions on-screen, and then connect PS3 (B) to the TV to view the XMB
5. If content that was downloaded from PlayStation Store was transferred as part of this operation, you must activate PS3 (B) before you can use the data. Log in to the PS3 system as the user who owns the content, and then select (PlayStation Network) > (Account Management) > (System Activation) to activate the system.

I downloaded this. You want to know why? The damn trophy sync error. Thankfully, this firmware fixes that.

I am getting it as soon as my wife finishes playing Flower, I’ve noticed some blu-tooth issues with my new slim & It will be nice to play my PSP Minis I’ve bought.
The save transfer system is great in theory but it will not transfer protected save files so it’s a big miss for me.

hows that possible?
i rang sony 4 times last week and this, and each time they were addiment such issues were “non existent”
how can you fix something that does not exist?
god i hate sonys customer support, would of got more help talking to a group of gorillas!
rang them because i could not get my PS1 classics i downloaded off my PS3 to work on my PSP.
and what was sonys solution?
download them again!
how the $#@% is downloading them again going to fix the issue?
unless theres a problem with the file which there is not since i can play them on my ps3 no problems.

This all sounds awesome but i wont be getting it just yet cause sony has gained a bad rep for defective FW updates. I’ll see how this 1 turns out.

great i love updates but i’m not into minis yet so most likely i won’t get the update and my ps3 isn’t having any of the problems metioned in the article so far so this is usless for me.

an update that brings more functionalities & free stuffs is always welcome.
apart the trophy sync issue (well i had to retry several times before getting it done), i never experienced any of the mentioned above. maybe because i don’t use all options too like bluetooth devices, etc
from the former updates, the features i use most are multi audio output, photo tools, etc ..
others use without being aware of.
i’m looking forward for the DATA transfer one, for even if i hope i never experience hardware failure, better be sure that we can transfer our stuffs. yet i do frequent backups.
what i would really like with LAN interconnection is the ability to play games locally without the Internet, like i do on PC … is it difficult to implement ?
well i’m happy with it still, will download on PC & update later…

Hi, just signed up for the site.
The firmware does not fix the trophy syncing issue. It IS fixed, but it was fixed server side. Because I havn’t updated to this new firmware and there is no longer a problem when either syncing trophies or comparing with friends. So it wasn’t the firmware that fixed the problem. At least not on the user end.

SB_Tanker I almost always update and I really have never had any problems except a few hiccups here and there.
I had a weird audio issue that I barely noticed until a week or 2 before they fixed it. I’ve had rarely any trophy sync issues, 1/4 times I have to end up trying to sync more than once. I’ve never had a game stop working on me or something due to updates.
The NXE on the 360 apparently caused a handful of nasty problems including RRODs and other things so… It’s always a risk updating ANY device or program. I trust Sony though because I just don’t seem to experience the problems everyone else does. It helps that I have the official Sony bluetooth and hardly have anyone to use it with, it also helps that I now have a new High Quality Gaming Headset and USB dongle that I can use instead of a bluetooth.
I was going to update hours ago because I thought there was a mandatory update since I couldn’t sign in, but it turned out just to be my internet service going down T_T

is lan connection better than a good wifi connection to play online with your brother in the same house?? and if ethernet is connected to only one of the ps3, would the other ps3 connected to it via lan cables get internet??

What I notcied with the trophy syncing thing is that they still sync but tell you it’s an error. It sometimes took a couple of times but eventually it will sync properly and let you through to your list. At first I thought they weren’t syncing at all but they would update on my Facebook profile so it must have been working. The less trophies you have to sync the better, it took me three days to sync a weekends worth of trophies about a week ago.
