Quantum Theory Going Multiplatform

Quantum Theory, Tecmo’s latest attempt to squeeze into the popular shooter market in the West, was for the longest time proudly touted as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. It looks like things have changed.

Tecmo recently issued a press release stating that “QUANTUM THEORY™ will be a multiplatform release on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.” No reason has been given for the sudden change of heart for this Japanese developer towards releasing this game as a multiplatform title, but it really is anyone’s guess at this point.

For the uninitiated, Quantum Theory is a third-person shooter with a world that constantly shifts due to combat that takes place in a living, breathing tower. It has drawn comparisons to the popular Gears of War franchise even though it is Japanese-developed. Look for the game in Spring of 2010 on both platforms, and stay with PlayStation LifeStyle for more information on this game.

“no reason has been given” – maybe loads of money? and released march 2010? so it means that X360 development has begun maybe a year ago and it’s annonced just right now?
It would be time players are not lied to as if they were lab rats … But it’s Microsoft’s policy to lie to people (see “Eternal sonata will be full X360 exclusive … and released on PS3 1 year later) to get their money.

  2. Timewarp Says:

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE! THIS WAS OUR FUCKING GEARS MICROSOFT YOU ARSEHOLES! I cannot believe this is actually happening. Please tell me for the love of god that PSLS is making fiction wednesdays like sarcastic gamer does beceasue this is a kick in the balls, no worst then that it’s a gang raping then a knife in the guy. I cannot believe MS would do this, why do we even bother having exclusives if MS is gonna steal them!?! So MGS is the main course and quantum physics is the fucking desert. Good do you want a side of resistance while your at it MS? Prehaps motorstorm?

I know this may be considered an overreaction but i’m sick to death with getting a good game coming to my console and then having it stolen from MS with their fanboys laughing and insulting us with “look at that now we get it too”

  3. Zack Islam Says:

Nope, this is real TimeWarp. Don’t worry, just look forward to all the other exclusives we will be playing, ripping of heads and eyeballs in God of War 3 sound intriguing? Or a totally type of unique gameplay we will be getting from Heavy Rain? Even though it is going to another console, it i I still will pick QT up, it looks hella fun any maybe will give gamers a new type of Gears of War on both consoles perhaps?

  4. Richy2k9 Says:

    hello …

humm this will not be good for the game, for there will be some pirated copies around the web!

those having multiple systems, can have it for free… hehe!

well if they want to make money, it’s normal they go multi, too bad for them still!

    cheers!

  5. Timewarp Says:

i still hate this. It’s our gears, let’s steal gears from them! Wait, i don’t work for sony so how do i steal gears from them? Steal a copy from gamestop and send it to sony?

  6. Adam Wolfe Says:

Well from what I heard this game isn’t all that good to begin with.

  7. Mendax Says:

This game was never anything more than a Gears knock off. I do question how well it will do on the console that has the actual Gears though.

  8. BigWoopMagazine Says:

well… I mean what do we lose if its multiplatform? not much. The graphics will be slightly shitty compared to what they could have been. ummmm…. thats about it. right?

  9. shadowjin Says:

    @Adam

how can you hear a games not any good when theres no information about it? thats like me saying GOW3 brings nothing new to the table based on a demo.

  10. Thomas Williams Says:

I agree with Zach. Who cares? There’s some many other AAA PS3 exclusives coming out next year that Quantum Theory didn’t even matter. Besides myself, I knew very few people who even knew anything about the game and/or wanted it. The game is going to fop sales-wise and I guess Tecmo realized that. Oh well…lol.

  11. SolidCake_ Says:

early videos & insiders commented that the games story was weak, and that it needed a lot
more polish, especially with such a close release date.

how is a western dev team 1st effort into shooters going to compare with the AAA’s already out there? box or slim doesn’t matter.

  12. Cameron Teague Says:

its not a big issue, i mean the game looked ok but it was not going to combat Gears of War anyway…

  13. acm7vu Says:

I personally don’t care – it’s not like they stopped releasing it for the PS3 and instead releasing it to the X360. It’s coming to the X360 in addition to coming to the PS3. No loss for us. Tecmo is a 3rd-party developer. Just don’t expect any true exclusivity from 3rd-party developers anymore.

  14. TheHater Says:

I guess I was right. To me, this game just screamed Xbox 360 for me. This game look more like an xbox 360 exclusive rather than a PS3 exclusive.

  15. wtGp Says:

l’ve nevereven heard of this game until now

  16. TheWickedOne Says:

    Could care less.

  17. DGR8Mc187 Says:

    OH NOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. joinsideke Says:

yeah, this really isn’t a big issue to me. The design looks pretty generic, even with what they’re trying to change up…
