With the Public Beta for MAG, Sony and Zipper Interactive’s 256-player Online-only FPS ending last Friday with the MAG Developer showdown, Zipper Interactive has released the Official Box Art and statistics for the Beta and they’re impressive, to say the least.
Here’s the Numbers, courtesy of Zipper Interactive.
- OVER 42,000 matches were played from August 17 to December 5.
- 534,000+ miles were traversed in October each week by players.
- During the final month of the beta, which started on November 9 and ended on December 5, 67,000 players logged-in, with 17,000 of them becoming Squad leaders, 3,500 earning Platoon leader status, 1,100 recruits made it to Officer-In-Charge, and 206 valiant soldiers reached level 60!
- Over 18 MILLION deaths accured with over 700 MILLION shots fired in doing so.
- ‘Sabotage’ mode featured the most played maps. ‘Syr Darya Uplink’, ‘Darien Network’, and ‘Copper Hills Relay’ were one, two, and three, respectively.
Mighty impressive! And how about that Box art? It just screams Massive Action Game, wouldn’t you say? What do you think, fellow readers? For those of you who took part in the Beta, did it confirm you purchase for the title or did it have you running back to cancel your pre-order? let us know in the comments below. For those of you who do plan on buying MAG, the Shadow War begins on January 26, 2010.
Check out the snazzy box-art below:

I’m not sure about this one yet.
BETA expirience was not so good for me, performance was just horrendous. I’m not sure that was because of game itself or my occasionaly useless internet connection.
My ISP sucks so this way or another I may consider not getting MAG since it’s MP only and some nice data throughput is needed.

@chesterPTR has to be your internet. Most everyone, myself included has had really good experiences with the connections. My internet was definitely slower than my friends as evidenced nby the fact that it took 2x as long for me to download updates. There were a few times zipper reset the servers but otherwise, no problems. I can’t wait for Jan 26th, literally. I am feigning for MAG and since the beta ended, I haven’t played much of anything on my ps3. This game is so intense that I feel I may lose some friends. They want to be on the elitist RAVEN side and I am for the anarchist SVER. Choose your side.

I am sure about this game, its so good. i am a big battlefield bad company fan. and do also like cod, but there is’nt enough 2 do, but with mag there is… Mag is a nice change, sure its good just killing and blow’in people up. with mag, your in a WAR, (all aspects) cod and BFBC may have better graphix. mag just kicks ass. just make sure you all TRY the full game.
how much will game be in the UK? add me if you play MAG on ps3- paulos99

Bad company 2 destroys this game in every way except the 256 online. too bad it comes out in a couple months.

It worked well for me… the only problem I have is a lack of personal friends to play online with. That’s killed every shooter I’ve ever played. . .

I definitely enjoyed the beta a LOT more than the Bad Company 2 beta. This is so much better balanced and refined.
The beta alone crushes Modern Warfare 2, though I’m comparing the MAG beta to an extremely overrated game.

why don’t we set up a PSLS team?
