Uncharted 2 & Naughty Dog Win Big At Spike VGA

With the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Award‘s having just concluded, many are wondering who took home the prestigious Game of the Year award. Could Modern Warfare 2‘s monstrous sales figures help it land the award?
The answer is no. Naughty Dog‘s phenomenal title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves nabbed the award. Although not entirely surprising, the PS3 exclusive managed to beat the likes of Assassin’s Creed II, Left 4 Dead, Batman Arkam Asylum and Modern Warfare 2. All of those games could have easily won the award. Naughty Dog deserves every bit of this as this title is a gem in every respect.

Heck yeah! Uncharted 2 is so amazing, it’s probably the most polished, stunning, and action-packed game I have ever played
Totally deserved. I think it should have won a bunch more like best soundtrack though.

Agreed, but I got the feeling they were trying to make the awards… even. Otherwise Uncharted would have swept the show. It makes no sense for Uncharted to be game of the year over AC2 while giving AC2 Action/Adventure game of the year over Uncharted. They definitely skewed the results.

Logically, yes, the Game of the Year would excel in every other category but the reason it didn’t was because one game can’t win multiple awards (I know there are shows that did this but they can’t win multiple awards).
For example, best album can be the best rap album but best rap album doesn’t HAVE to be best album.

…….i feel like the VGAs are just turning into every other shitty awards show. Nothing will surprise us with awards, its always going to be the big names that win- not the small endeavors that surprise the people. It wouldn’t make sense to publicize them on tv, they don’t pay for sponsorship.
