Modern Warfare 2 is the biggest entertainment launch in history. Triumphing the charts for countless weeks, while defeating strong competition amongst the likes of Assassin’s Creed 2 and FIFA 10. It continues to do so as Modern Warfare 2 claims Christmas’s # 1 spot.
Confirmed by Chart-Track, the shooter continues to gloat its position by enjoying its sixth consecutive week at the top of the UK charts. A 24 percent bump in sales saw FIFA 10 take second spot for Christmas. Wii fit Plus takes claims third place while Assassin’s Creed 2 sees a drop. James Cameron Avatar: The Game and Left 4 Dead 2 just misses out on the top 10.

Well that was to be expected.
think a trooper wearing a santa hat would get noticed on teh battle feld?
Yes. At first I was thinkin FIFA isn’t much of a competitor but then I remembered these are UK numbers.
This is the reason why you don’t see very many RPG’s in the US/NA region. Because gamers flock to FPS games like ducks to a pond in mating season. And until that changes it will take RPG game devs a while to release their games here. Just look at FFXIII released in Japan and Spring/Summer in other regions.
It is a catch 22 situation but until the FPS sales fall off a cliff RPG’s will never get the love here in the US. It is really to bad but those are the facts.
And since the average age of gamers in the US is lower than other places in the world this will always be the case.

@SPD55
actually you don’t see many RPG’s is because developers of those types of games are too lazy to port them over here US/NA or SCEJ has just run out of ideas on how to make RPG games
At least there’s some RPG games on the Xbox 360 but other than that RPG games are they dead unless they get off their lazy arse and get ot it.
In order to coop with this l excessively play RGS games such as Fallout 3 and Borderlands which is awesome and you should give it a try
lazy? laziness is not the issue. Money money money. You’re not going to put the man power and capital into localizing a game to have it sit on shelfs. All indications point to this as what will probably happen, so companies don’t risk it.
Noone’s sitting on their ass looking at a tv going “hah…. those americans wish they could play this…. TOO BAD! I”m Lazyyyy….”
