Criterion Teases Newest Project

12/30/2009 Written by Kyle P.

Criterion, best known for their hard work on the stellar title, Burnout Paradise, has been quiet as of late. After a barrage of phenomenal DLC for a title well over a year old, they haven’t given any word on what they are working on now. Whether they are just taking a well earned break, or are hard at work, on a new title, is not yet known. However, the newest tweet from the official Criterion Games feed certainly gets us all excited here at PlayStation LifeStyle.

This was tweeted, earlier this morning:

2010 will satisfy our increasing desire for travelling at a rate of high velocity….or words to that effect…

The word is that Criterion will be getting behind the wheel of the next Need for Speed game. Stick with PlayStation LifeStyle as we’ll be sure to stay on top of this situation.

burnout is my favorite racing game this gen no doubt. grid and nfs shift are neck and neck for second. I think nfs gets a slight upper hand for the awesome c***pit view. can’t wait for whatever the criterion team is working on next.

The media pundits who are have confirmed that Criterion is working on the latest Need For Speed. So the tweet they sent out is even less descriptive than anyone could have hoped for. Seeing as how Need For Speed both classically and currently employs high end pasta rockets, supermuscle cars, and some serious tuner cars from around the world.

With that being said, the current story is that Criterion will be bringing the game back to it’s roots. Although whether that’s a Hot Pursuit root or Underground root is still open for debate.

I hope they do a new burnout thats bigger, better, longer and uncut. Burnout was one of the greatest racers ever with amazing online play and career play. Loved every second of it and would play more but have been there done that.

I’m currently playing Need for Speed Shift and loving it. Really wish they’d have given the next one to Slightly Mad studios, who did Shift. I’m not into crashing – I like to race in my racing games. Weird, I know.
