God of War 3 is looking ready for a blockbuster release come March, but gamers who are still unsure about the PS3 exclusive might want to see what Sony’s product manager has to say about the game, as she explains why God Of War 3 is a “must have” title.
Sony believes God Of War 3 will be a ‘must have’ title for gamers, as it is set apart from any other next-gen title on the market. Speaking in an interview to CVG, Sony’s product manager for God Of War 3, Claire Backhouse, explained that the title will offer “unmistakable realism” and is 4 times bigger than its predecessor.
Backhouse gives a more in depth view:
God of War 3 combines these new technologies with the much loved gameplay elements from the previous games – Puzzle solving, brutal combat and epic set-piece battles. It also benefits from a deep and involving storyline, steeped in Greek Mythology. This is what makes God of War 3 unique and sets it apart from other next gen titles. I think if you are over 18 and want an amazing single player experience this year then God of War 3 is a must have.
The developers have worked hard to use the power of the PS3 to make GOW3 look amazing and have added features that are only possible with PS3. The dynamic lighting solution employed in GOW III is only feasible through the computing power provided by the Cell SPUs. For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera – when using Krato’s sightline – will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust.
When asked what will really ‘wow’ fans from previous GoW games:
In addition to the battles, storyline and elements like the lighting mentioned above there are a few new special treats in store for GoW fans. One such treat is rideable creatures. The menacing creatures of Greek mythology in God of War 3 can now be manipulated against their will, as Kratos uses them to cross chasms, inflict blind rage against enemies, reveal puzzles and secrets, and as tools of complete annihilation.
There are also new deadly weapons such as the Cestus–powerful metal gauntlets with devastating strength-and other brutal instruments of war that will allow Kratos to learn ruthless new techniques such as grappling with enemies and launching explosive wall-to-ground attacks.
The game certainly sounds promising. Do you think God Of War 3 will raise the bar and be set-apart from other next-gen titles? Let us know in the comments!
all i have to say is “now we play the waiting game”

LOL! what is that line from? I’m racking my brain to remember…. argh it hurts… (simpsons?)
After playing the demo I say its going to be GOTY for 2010 in my opinion. i can’t wait for GOW3 and even purchased GOW Collection to get caught again in the franchise(I own both GOW1 & 2 on PS2) and just placed my preorder a few days ago.
what trophies can i unlock in the waiting game?
yawwwn! button mash….. again yawn….
Caphead you’re a moron and if you don’t like God of War you don’t deserve to own a PS3. God of War is one of the best exclusive franchises we have for the PS3 so maybe you should just go sit in a corner and play an XBox all day! Good day sir!…actually I really don’t care that much, to each his own.
I can’t wait for this game. Hopefully Dante’s Inferno will keep me from going insane until GoW III release but there is no action title that can take it’s throne. I love greek mythology and getting to slaughter a bunch of creatures within that world is AMAZING!
I have been called worse, I am just expressing that GOW series is a button mash and not interested in it. You cant deny that it isn’t. Yes it looks pretty, and yes it plays great but Pressing “0″ in rapid succession to accomplish things does not make it “fun” for me. I am sure you and others will love it, but I did not enjoy the other in the series. So this being a “must have” is not valid too me.
Like you said “too each his own”.
@lebronjc
yeah that is the Simpsons, Homer to be specific
Gettin this for sure. Another system seller.
caphead 2 lazy 2 press circle lol
hello …
oh yes, this is so good, GOTY for sure, unless The Last Guardian comes out in 2010
if somehow there can be exaequo in GOTY would be GOW3 & TLG … & maybe Heavy Rain as Runner up followed closely by GT5 … SONY Exclusives in the Top 5 .. ha!
I’m getting God of War III, i’m just sad it’s difficult for me to get the Ultimate Edition.
I already own & played God of War 1 & just paused playing God of War 2 PS2 versions, i ordered GOW Collection …
These games are must have & i’m sure GOW3 will win the day!
cheers!
@lebronjc – to be even more specific, its Homer during the Mr. Plow episode, right after they watch his commercial premiere on tv. Sorry, I’m a nerdy Simpsons fan (for the first 12 seasons or so).
@Caphead – I sure as hell can deny that its just a button masher!! Yes theres a lot of frantic repeated button pushing, but play the original two on their hardest modes and you’ll find that just “button mashing” equals certain death. To get through without cheating you’ll require knowledge and skill with the incredibly responsive control scheme to block, counter attack, and evade your enemies all while still making hits and combos. The harder modes is where the game play shines.
