It looks like Gran Turismo fans may have to wait a tad bit longer to pop the clutch on Polyphony Digital’s newest iteration in the series, as SCEJ (Sony Computer Entertainment Japan) has just issued a statement that confirms a one month delay for the game, with no reason given for said delay. With Gran Turismo 5 currently in development in Japan, it is most likely assured that this delay will affect the rest of the world as well. So yes, we must wait at least one more month to get our hands on what is shaping up to be one of, if not the single largest, most impressive racing game ever created.
Gran Turismo 5 was currently scheduled for release sometime in March, which means an April release is looking likely. But hey, look on the bright side, April showers bring horsepower! Be sure to stay tuned to PSLS, as we’ll have a release date for you as soon as word breaks.
Boy I’m glad I’m not really a fan of GT, or else all these delays would just make me go insane!
Why don’t they just cancel it?
Waiting for a polished finish product is much better than waiting an hour for a 600mb update the day after its release.
How hard is it to wait a couple more months after waiting 5+ years?
I commend their pursuit for perfection.
A game that can be released anytime they want is delayed? I call shenanigans. I’m glad i’m not a gran turismo fan, cause all of this would be insulting.
@peroxadic
Months ago they said it was ready for release. They are past the polishing point. I think they’re taking everybody complaining about dlc being “taken” from the game just to make money way too seriously, and trying to fit everything they would ever work on onto the disc before release. Whats wrong with dlc? whats wrong with an update? you can pay for the ps3 but internet over the course of a year is too much?
That last part being to anyone that has a ps3 but no internet. To you not wanting to wait an hour but you’re content with waiting months: Congratulations, you’re a gigantic hypocrite. They can release the game (since it was ready months ago) and finish whatever they’re doing and you can play it while they continue that endless quest for perfection. You know what I wish my favourite sports team did? Skipped a season so they can pick up one or two more good players without having to lose a game. That would be way better both short and long term right?
I will assume a perpetual delay until the game is actually sitting in my ps3… even then i will assume its a fake lol.
Come on guys!
this is getting pretty sad to be honest
How is it being a hypocrite, wanting to wait a month for a polished product, rather than waiting an hour for an update on a finished product? How important is it to play a game today, rather than tomorrow?
An update to fix errors, bugs, etc. is not a DLC, it is an update. DLC would bring about new content. People bitch and moan about a game taking too long to be released, until they pop it in their PS3 and realize that multiplayer is broken, graphical glitches, AI being retarded etc.
If you like playing flawed games, than go play flawed games. I, for one, would much rather wait for a polished product.
lol
Take your time Polyphony, but please stop teasing us with fake release dates.
I’m willing to bet money this was delayed due to managemental purposes because a certain high-profile PS3 game is coming out that same month (starts with a “G”, ends in “od of War”).
Am I the only one not upset about saving my $60 for another time after dropping $100 on God of War collectors?
I just have to laugh when people defend these delays. Naughty Dog turned out Uncharted and Uncharted 2 – combined! – in less time than this thing is taking.
Ermm.. comparing Uncharted 2 to GT5? U2 is an amazing game in its own right, but it will be nothing to the volumes that GT5 will move, both as a game and the inevitable bundles that’ll come with it. Its influence over console sales will be MUCH more than what U2 did. Uncharted is a short-lived franchise (so-far), GT is a Playstation legacy.
Hell I guess they should just announce it’ll be released in 2012 and then release it this December, at least that’ll make all the impatient folks happy.
@peroxadic
They’ve told you the game is ready, they’ve said they can release it whenever they want. To me that means not everything is glitchy or messed up like you think it is for some odd reason. I like playing games that are finished, I’ll even play an unfinished game if the key word of PLAY is involved. When the company making the game comes out and says: we could let you play it, it’s ready to ship, but we want to add more to it so we will. They can add things in free dlc, they can add them in free updates if they want, or they can even charge for them because that’s their business. How many sales would they lose by releasing it with the promise of free dlc as apposed to what they’ve done pissing a bunch of people off by waiting too long. It’s just ridiculous, but you’re obviously a fanboy so it’s ok to you.
hello …
agree with : FiftyQuid – at least don’t tease us, unless it’s another marketing strategy (mean!) …
I don’t care about the delay, i’m still not sure of getting it at day one, who knows maybe yes after all it’s a great game, with great content, waiting forever is kind of hard but lately i came up buying too many games & neglecting old ones (Burnout Paradise / LBP / VF5), i still haven’t finished games like AC1, Batman Arkham Asylum, i just got inFamous yesterday, i bought a lot of games off PSN & a lot of demos.
work is not compatible with gaming life, now being married i have to find time for family & i’m sure i’ll get God of War 3 & Heavy Rain (pre-ordered), will also buy Dante’s Inferno / Darksiders, i’m, after my DEALER to get UC2 delivered to me ASAP & i have to re-start UC1 for the bonus. I’ll certainly get The Last Guardian if released this year & also Castlevania Lords of Shadow, so i think polyphony digital can take all it’s time, for i won’t be free before 2012.
Now if there are any new IPS & i’m sure i forgot some other games (like AC2 / BFBC2!?/MAG/MNR/etc…) … phew …
Ok, now i’m calm .. i want GT5 too, April OK
cheers!
