The December NPD sales has just been revealed. Since December is the last month needed to do a proper year-to-date tabulation, we’re finally able to see how the PS3 performed in North America for the entire year of 2009.
In December, the SCEA sold a whopping 1.36 million PS3 consoles throughout North America. In 2009, the PS3 has sold over 4,334,000 units, according to NPD sales data for the entire year. If you’d like to see how the PlayStation 3 performed on a month to month basis, check out the chart below (click image for full size):

Great numbers.
I’d really like to see this chart replicated for global numbers.
The Wii is a monster and must be stopped.
Wii-zilla will never be stopped.
wth are people playing on the wii that makes it sell so much? or is it the price that’s doing it for them?
@WestSiide – casual games far outnumber core gamers. casual gamers will buy whats cheaper, since they will use it less. They will buy Wii. ’nuff sed.
@bigwoopmagazine Considering the 360 is cheaper than the wii, that argument aint exactly valid
holy shit wii. almost 10 million units in one year. I don’t care where your loyalties lie, that’s unbelievable.
