Gran Turismo 5 Approaching The Finish Line

01/17/2010 Written by Zak Islam

Gran Turismo 5’s recent delay in Japan, which would lead one to think a western release delay in the offing as well has sparked speculation on why the racer got delayed. Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi explains the reasons behind the delay.

Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed in an interview with USA Today that “About 90% of the game is done. We are just working on the last 10% and polishing up everything.” This explains why the racer recently received a red light.

When asked if Gran Turismo 5 will be using motion control at all:

It might be used to maybe control the user interface like you would a mouse, but that’s the extent we would use it for.

What do you think about Gran Turismo 5’s recent delay? Will it lead to a western delay and would you be happy to wait a month or two longer for GT5? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

GT games are always delayed, and always turn out to be awesome. Doesn’t really bother me. We’ve waited 5 years, what’s another few months?

Im sure it will be the best yet

The longer i wait, the more i hear about it, the less convinced I am that it’ll be as good or as groundbreaking as the last GT titles. The racing academy demo was god awful i thought- zero handling abilities on the cars, and all rather boring too.

I dunno anymore. Theres no denying it’s graphical superiority over most games tho. I just don’t think it’s going to cut the mustard this time round is all. I hope it proves me wrong tho, but i’m not holding my breath!

  5. It won’t effect the US release date simply because there is no US release date.

I’m happy to wait for this game because we all know when it’s done it will be the best driving simulation in the world… but for that to be true you must also buy a racing steering wheel for your PS3.
