Just a few more weeks left till the blockbuster release of what millions of eager PlayStation 3 owners have been anticipating, Heavy Rain. Even before the release of the PS3 exclusive, David Cage has ruled out creating a Heavy Rain sequel.
David Cage has revealed in an interview with the OPM that Heavy Rain 2 will not be developed.
I don’t want to do a sequel because I’ve said what I had to say about these characters and this story. Honestly, I have nothing else to say.”
Cage also comments on the the DLC named Heavy Rain “Chronicles“:
The game tells a full story, nothing is missing from it. The approach to DLC was to say, let’s work on prequels. What led the characters to be who they are in Heavy Rain? What happened to them before?
You can read the interview in the February 2010 issue of the Official Playstation Magazine UK, issue 41 which will hit shelves tomorrow.
The original Origami killer releases on February 23 in North America and February 26 in the UK.

This is how a good developer works. They care about the final product and not about their wallets.
Hopefully it sells
Never say never, Mr. Cage….lol
hope this game sells really well.
I can’t imagine this game selling well out of the gates but if it’s as good as I could be then possibly could become a top 10 next gen game. I’ll probably rent it and then after that I don’t know what the outcome will be.
And the prequel idea is great, makes on think that the game your buying is finished and the extra content is things that only add to character development but don’t feel like your missing out from the game just because you don’t have to dough.
I now have great respect for Mr. David Cage. It seems his business practices are the exact opposite of anyone at Activision where the motto is…let’s cut our 20 hour story into 5 parts to make as much money on one franchise as possible!
I hope the game is great and sells well.. I’m going to buy the game, looks pretty good so far. Hopefully enough people support such developers that more story oriented games are made in the future.
Great! There’s no need to draw out the story and ruin it in the process.

considering all the characters can die in game, that pretty much means guarantees lives will be dramatically altered through some unexpected, life changing events. Usually in such situations, a person does not try and recreate that or go through another similar experience later on….
That being said, he could have also meant that he’s just totally exhausted their storylines, and nothing else could be worth telling that would live up to what people want, which I can absolutely understand.
