Tekken Will Never Be The Same Again

01/20/2010 Written by Matt Baker

The voice behind Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima, Daisuke Gouri, aged 57, has died from extensive loss of blood. He was found by a passerby on the streets, and investigators are understood to be treating this incident as a suicide.

Apparently, Gouri collapsed on the street in Nakano-region, with a knife and a written will found nearby.

Gouri has provided voices for many games, including working with Tekken for over a decade, providing the voice of Heihachi Mishima to the franchise. Gouri also voiced Bass Armstrong in the Dead or Alive series, Mister Hercule Satan in Dragon Ball Z, and also worked on Metal Gear Solid 2 (Scott Dolph), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Soulcalibur, and Final Fantasy XII.

    a man dies and the articule is called “Tekken will never be the same again”? No offence but it seems to me that the person writing this is more concerned about a video game then the fact that an old man has killed himself.

    @Timewarp

    This is a gaming site, and as such the writing should be centered around the gaming aspect of the story. You can stand on your pedestal and pretend to care about an old man you never met if you want, but my guess is that your response is largely disingenuous. I know that sounds heartless, but tell me, are you going to lose sleep over this news? My guess is that you won’t.

    tell me Timewarp, would you have even looked at this article if the title was “Daisuke Gouri Dies.” Very unlikely because you would have no idea who he was and why he would be related to gaming. The fact is this title made you open the link and read about this man while respecting his memory at the same time. R.I.P.

  5. Sucks…but I’m pretty sure Tekken will be fine.

    @giese095

    he would have if it had a picture of Tekken. Thats the reason i opened it..

    you tell me, when are you going to start adding to an article instead of looking like a cheap wanna mod on this site? Oh, yeah. You only ride other peoples comments.. You don’t need to know someone personally to have respect or care.

  7. [...] on Metal Gear Solid 2 (Scott Dolph), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Soulcalibur, and Final Fantasy XII. SOURCE well this sucks cause he's done this for so long……what to do now Click [...]

  8. @shadowjin lol you’re 100% on target.

    He’s a troll.

  9. Be on the look out for 2 more deaths. The Grim Reaper adheres to the video game rule of three

  10. Natiej85 says:

    Really? The article does need a different fitle and the subject is talking about a game changing because of a death when we all know that’s never the case. So a title like Death Rocks Tekken woulda been nice. I just thought there was an update to the franchise or that it was becoming an 360 exclusive, not that a man lost his life.

  11. KwietStorm says:

    Nevermind the title of the article. The fact that people are jumping on Timewarp for his comments is even worse. Its such a standard to NOT have compassion on this world, that when one person does, he gets attacked and ridiculed for it. How messed up in the head can people be?
