PS3 Surpasses 3 Million in the United Kingdom

01/24/2010 Written by Kishen Patel

Without a doubt, the holiday season of 2009 was a monumental success for the PlayStation 3, with close to four million consoles sold worldwide. The success is mainly attributed to the launch of the PS3 slim on top of the top-notch exclusive offerings. While the United States and Japan had record-breaking sales, a new milestone has been reached in the Queen’s land.

Sony revealed that PlayStation 3 consoles sales in Great Britain have exceeded three million units. This sales leap from July of 2009 of 800,000 units is all because of the PS3 slim worldwide launch. While the PS3 is still not in first place in the United Kingdom, the gap is closing up at a faster rate as time goes by. With the launches of several blockbuster titles coming up, Sony may be on top in the near future.

Sony is beating Microsoft in Japan and Europe. VGChartz has a graph showing this. Sure you hear that VGChartz isn’t accurate, but it’s the only place I know that has such numbers readily available.
