DICE: EA’s “Goal” To Beat MW2
DICE‘s Patrick Bach has said that he believes a lot of people on “executive level” at EA see beating Modern Warfare as a “goal”. Bach gives his thoughts on Modern Warfare 2 being the one to beat when it comes to online shooters.
Asked by GamerZines whether DICE thought Modern Warfare 2 was the one to beat when it comes to online shooters, Bach replied:
A lot of people ask us about Modern Warfare and they compare us to Modern Warfare, so when we answer questions about that it will sometimes sound like we are competing directly against them
I think a lot of people on executive levels see that as a goal, that we will beat Modern Warfare.
Bach doesn’t see it as ‘beating’ though:
To me it’s not beating, it’s showing that you can do things differently and to a high quality while delivering both a single-player and multiplayer game.
Please go ahead and compare us but please don’t see it as the same game because we’re not trying to be that game. We’re doing Battlefield things here, we’re trying to do the game that we want to do.
Judging by the success of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta, which took place on the PlayStation 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is believed by many to be superior to Modern Warfare 2, but the true comparison will have to wait until the shooter is released on March 2 in North America and March 5 in Europe.

I agree with what he’s saying, too many people think MW2 is the worlds greatest can of beans then they compare it to any shooter or RPG ever made. Some people have a tough time realizing not ever company and every shooter they make is trying to be a MW2 replica and then those people get turned off from ever experiencing any other game. MW2 is a fun game, but you cant act like everything in life is apples to apples.
MW2 sucks it’s just overhyped and loved by “noob gamers” i mean seriously people in MW2 camp out for killstreaks and theres all kinds of silyl perks that make the game unfair. BFBC2 seems like it won’t be a let down and i hope its far better than MW2.
My first 1st person shooter was COD4 and I know the first thing I did was compare it to Bad Company, and one thing that I found out is that they were in fact TOTALLY different. I personally enjoyed Bad Company’s story mode a HELL of a lot better, but the online was just a different experience, it could not be compared to COD4.
Though, I believe that Bad Company’s not only campaign, but also online experience will be better because they took the better route into improving things in the game in the 1st place while with MW2 they just added more things which just = more problems
Saleswise? It’ll be a challenge.
Just going by the beta it has mw2 outclassed in every other way though.

News flash, there are “perks” in bad company 2, and you can spawn camp which is worse than camping a spot you can avoid. Perks don’t make the game unfair, they give people who like the game enough to play it a lot some kind of reward
What about Medal Of Honour? It’ll be funny to see the new medal of honour and Bad company 2 fighting for the number one spot as it’ll be EA Games Vs EA Games.

Bad Company 2 will actually have a really great single player story that will last longer than 45 minutes (exaggeration) as well as a great multiplayer mode. Activision should just make Modern Warfare a multiplayer only title since that is the only thing they want to focus on anyway and then charge us $10 less for it. But wait, Activision is full of a bunch of greedy bastards so they would probably twist it somehow to make us think a multiplayer only game should be worth more and they would charge $70 for it.

In My opinion sales wise MW2 will win no doubt maybe in the long run people will wake up and realize whats the better game, but there are too many simple minded people in this world that arnt able to open up . One reason i believe this is because this is a console game and mw2 rules the consoles so people who tend to pick this up or rent this will criticize it for not feeling like mw2. Me myself picked up battlefied the original and is not really fond of the difference of the feal of the way the guns fire but im open and realized that its a totally differnt game. but yea this game should equal best shooter.

Perks are pretty unfair.. with commando a person can knife from like 10 feet away! Also the perks make it very unrealistic i mean the game is realistic in the way you die in 3 bullets or so but the perks just F the game up completely and so do the killstreaks.. Also your judging BC2 from the beta since the final version isn’t out yet.. Things will be fixed.. and you can spawn camp in pretty much every game. I rather be spawned camped than have some noob camper take me out cause he’s too unskilled to run n gun.

i’m not a FPS fan, i tried COD4 on PS3 & hated it, tried same on PC & loved it, well who knows after all it depends on the experience.
I will not buy MW2 on PS3, i think its sales figures is mostly because it was well marketed & it is not the best, but still a really good game. Most kids (no offense intended to youngsters here!) would prefer go to MW2 & mostly on Xbox360 because of the fact of having a lot of friends going for same & for the MP part.
it’s always the gameplay & the possibility to compete with others or to show off that drive the sale, other spex are secondary, it is unfair because better made titles doesn’t sell that much in the end (as for Uncharted 2).
all FPS will suffer the comparison thingy, but people should at least try & stick to what the need & want instead of having pre-conceived ideas.
sure hope BFBC2 sells well.
