As expected, developers of Burnout Paradise Criterion will show the next installment in the Need For Speed series in a meeting with EA today.
However, the game has been shown a bit earlier than expected thanks to some leaked concept art screenshots…
Rumoured to be named “Need For Speed: Out Of The Law“, the racer’s concept art has been leaked. Check out the shots found on Neogaf below:
The developers recently tweeted:
NFS will be shown for the first time today at internal Electronic Arts meeting! Let’s put the pedal to the metal and hit it!
What turned out to be a rumor a while back is now a reality, Criterion had confirmed that they are working on a new Need For Speed title for EA, and these screenshots showcase just that. Stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for any news regarding the racer.
thank god it looks like they’ll be going back to street racing! NFS Shift was a good game, but I just get bored with pro racing after a while…I liked the Underground and Most Wanted games because they gave you a story along with great racing rather than just chasing after the championship.
The BURNOUT series is the only racing games i find that have that ‘mental speed feeling’ The rest are slow feeling and pretty lame…….. Now that they are doing a NFS im very interested in playing it! Carnt beat the speed of Bo/Paradise LOL its gr8! Just hope they keep the ‘BALLS OUT’ style lol!! Sure we got GT5 coming but thts SIM styled & totally diff game!!?!
I dont get the point of doing their first Pro Track NFS racer and going back to dumb ass street racing. I think shift was the best NFS game to date, that was real racing and your cars didnt need to have all those weak body kits and ugly spoilers for looks.
@QUEEF
EA is using differant devs so they can not only come out with a NFS each year, but also so each will have a diffeant feel. I love street racing (if done right) better than track. I will keep my sim track racing for the Gran Turismo series.
But I will agree with you on the ugly spoilers
So where are the screens? I see concept art, but no screens!
@dbigfeet
Totally agree with you about the different sets of developers for annual releases. That’s why i’m going to avoid this like the plague regardless of how good it is! It’s people endlessly swallowing up the yearly drivel that encourages companies like EA to keep pumping the same old shit out with minor changes, knowing that the said people will lap it up like idiots!
For example, because all PS3s have HDD’s, why cant they make a game that uses a certain basic engine (say fifa for arguments sake), that after a year or so, can be totally revamped or slightly touched up through a cheap DLC? Thus meaning it only costs a few quid/dollars for a new(ish) game that is slightly updated and remodeled, rather than going out and paying full whack for a new disc.
I dunno eh? But it’s good food for thought i reckon!
nice food for thought but that way how is any company going to make money? from small DLC? i dont think so……… If a games good and u like it buy it if not dont……
i aint touched a fifa or tiger woods for years for this reason! Read reviews etc and if u dont like it dont buy it………
@ ST Anger
I feel your pain. I am one of the biggest madden fans EVER. But I only buy the title every other year. You have to look it like this, it’s business, if you have a cash cow, milk it. Plus the profits from said cash cow can help some brands support (Burnout paradise) and finance new IP’s (Dead Space).
I can’t even believe that someone used a sports title in an argument against yearly development, and more than one of you! You people must not be big sports fans. If a sports game didn’t come out every year, it would have to be patched and updated enough times that it only makes sense to improve what you can in the game while making the changes that would happen regardless. Plus you can’t just all of a sudden one day extend the development cycle. That would force them to miss out on profits from one year, meaning the next game would have to make double the profits of the last game to “break even”. That simply isn’t a good business move.
I’ll ignore the fact that ST ANGER thinks alternating developers for a yearly game(meaning each game takes 2 years) makes both games crap even though his problem is with games that only take a year or less to make. I’m not surprised considering you have what it takes to boycott a style of business regardless of the great games you would miss out on, you must sound really smart to yourself right now.
The main purpose of a boycott isn’t to keep good things away from yourself is it? I always thought it was to prove a point that something ISN’t good
I’m so sad that Criterion isn’t making another Burnout game right now, but whatever they make…I’m buying!
For me, NFS series has been missing something for a while now. I do not see myself comming back to it.
That BMW from first screen looks strangly familiar…running out of ideas again, boys (EA)?

I wait until I see it and then pass judgement on it. I will admit, I am interested in this one.
The screens are fake.

“NFS stories on the net today – 100% FAKE!”
The screens were on the net 16 days ago. Plus, there are cuss words in the art which NO ONE ever does.
@AznSniper:
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who remembered.
hello …
even if i feel like a game release every yeah with a a name change & slight adjustments is quite lame, i understand the reason behind.
Criterion working on another NFS, this news is old, lol yet i can’t wait to see the final results, i’m a Burnout paradise fan, i’m just waiting for Feb, for there would be some price drop in the DLCs …
NFS Shift took the path of Forza & GT, but with GT5 coming, i didn’t get that one. Till now i have only Burnout & Motorstorm II on PS3 as for racing, i intend to add GT5 to the collection & if the next NFS is good, why not.
cheers!
