Yesterday we brought you news of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City being listed on a major game retailer’s website. Now Sony has officially announced the release of the once Xbox 360 exclusive GTA IV spin-offs.

PS3 owners everywhere will get to enjoy both The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned on one single Blu-Ray disc.

“Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City has been one of the most requested gameplay experiences by PlayStation fans, and we’re thrilled to finally bring the closing chapters of the GTA IV story from one of the biggest franchises in gaming to PS3,” said Rob Dyer, senior vice president of publisher relations, SCEA

Sony has just announced via an official press release the additional chapters of Grand Theft Auto for release on March 30, 2010 for the retail price of $39.99. Each episode will also become available via the PlayStation Network for $19.99 each.

  1. “The Rock!… has come back, to Liberty City!” *applause*

  2. TheHater says:

    50 MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS…..WOW MS…really? Really?
I am begin to believe all the rumor of Splinter Cell and Mass Effect coming to the Playstation 3.

  3. TurKadir20 says:

that’s awesome, I might pick this up

  4. If anyone is interested at these I would recommend the ballad of gay tony over lost and the damned, gay tony was a lot like san andreas which is tied for me with vice city as the best gta’s.

  5. wtGp says:

even though GTA4 is lame l love that this is not an exclusive anymore

  6. Wow, what a waste of $50 million, Microsoft. Makes the 360′s 2009 lineup look that much weaker now..lol.

  7. Hahaha best news ever, bet all the Xbot fan boys are now very very miffed that they’re last good exclusive has even surcumbed to the Dark Side…

Hahahaha $50million dollars for a couple of extra months exclusivity seems like a stupid idea on M$ part now…

    @TheHater

Exactly, count on those games coming to the ps3……things change when there’s more money to be made. lmfao!

  9. xST-ANGERx says:

C’mon, lets be honest here- Who really thought that these episodes would never appear on PS3? Rockstar and Sony are pretty good pals, but i don’t blame them for accepting $50m for these games. After all, it probably paid the development costs for The Agent (a PS3 exclusive hehe). So thank you M$, not only do we get an exclusive game (technically) paid for by your good selves, but we also get the strings from your bow, leaving you with only a bent stick that can’t fire arrows lol.

Yeah I can’t believe it either, the irony is that I was considering buying it for the 360 had it been any longer so it just shows that I was right all along we only needed to hang on in there and then we’ll get the content in the end.

I don’t really degrade myself to the fanboyish attitude of PS3 fanboys but
Payback is a bitch! Oh yeah!
    Payback is a bitch!
    Payback is a bitch!
    Payback is a bitch!

Honestly, I think this is better for sony, because this gives me so much incentive to revisit GTA4, rather than go out and buy a 360 just to get this DLC.

Thirty is fucking hefty though. I’m not sure how fast I’ll be scrambling to get rid of that amount of money.

  12. Xael says:

I might or might not get this, I’ll wait for reviews, even though since it is GTA it will probably get a 27 out of a 10 (even though it’s probably a 7 out of a 10 material). I’ll be certainly looking for bargain prices.

Microsoft has made a name for themselves alright and showed everyone in the gaming industry how timed exclusives are a WASTE OF TIME!!!! The moment I started seeing Sony loosing exclusives left and right, I figured “something has to be wrong” but then it didn’t take long to realize that Sony has something that Microsoft wont even come close to playing catch up too… and that’s an arsenal of first party development studios. So while Microsoft is blowing money out the wazoo with contract exclusivity deals, Sony is keeping their money and using it to fund TOP TIER AAA FIRST PARTY titles and then end up getting the timed exclusives that Microsoft spent money on top of that!

All I have to say is, by the end of this year, if there’s any Xbot fanboy who still wants to argue that the 360 had a better 2010 than Sony, their going to need a psychiatrist.

  13. Timed exclusives are becoming common. I expect other “exclusives” to follow suit.

  14. Supachief says:

It was only a matter of time. I knew from the beginning that this was going to happen. I feel bad for xbox owners, they got good games but its starting to show now how the 360 is becoming obsolete. That is why natal is coming out so soon. And its what they hope will bring them back up to par. Which it will.

  15. Yablurt says:

I think you will find the $50 million MS paid for exclusivity had the desired effect.

I originally planned to purchse a PS3 for the release of GTAIV but decided on the 360 as it woud have the dlc first and also Halo. Console sold and another installed user which = more games sold. I doubt i’ll have been the only person that has plumped for a 360 for this reason.

Same reasons why I got a PS2, it had GTA3

  16. Episodes from Liberty City na PlayStation 3 i PC…
