I grew up playing games on a C64 and I'm not a graphics whore by any standard, but when I started up DA:O, I was pretty surprised. And while I'm at it, what the hell were they thinking with the hats? Seriously, I hate wearing them on my characters because they look so ridiculous. Mind you I'm having a tough time even getting into the game anyways; I made the mistake of buying into the "Baldur's Gate - spiritual successor" thing and man, it is not. "Press x when your target dies" is a really boring combat system. You fill in a few tactics slots (or just leave the default ones, I suppose) and you party goes off and kills everything. Pop over to them to hit heal every once in a while and wait for the win. Maybe the PC version is better than the console version, I don't really know. I think I'm looking for BG3 and I ended up with a Fallout 3-style of treatment (that is to say good, but not what I want). Either way, DA:O is one ugly game compared to the PS3 titles I have sitting on my desk. I’m not “really, really young” and I think the game looked brutal.
