Meh I’ll hardly notice the space on my upgraded PS3…
sweet I love installing game data on PS3. it means that game will be EPIC
Nice, sounds like there isn’t going to be very much loading or if any very quick. It will suck to have to sit there with the game and not play it for so long though lol.
Sweet. I upgraded my HDD for this kind of games.
hello …
yeah no big deal, have big HDD & can upgrade so easily
…
the origami tutorial would be nice, LOL!
OK, now need to wait for it to be available.
cheers!
how do you upgrade the PS3 anyway? I need more space on mine and I’ve always wondered how people upgrade.

very easy…even in the manual I think.
Also don’t worry about speeds faster than 5400rpm since the difference is negligible on the PS3.
@Timewarp: If only Sony supplied instructions with the PS3 telling you how to replace your hard disc… oh wait, they did.
that’s what the hdd is for. as long as it’s helps the game run smoothly i have no problem. it’s only the games that are terrible ports that bother me when they require large amounts of memory.
@Nemo2000: If only god gave us a sort of guide and how to socialise with other humans, oh wait he did! How about you stop acting like a sarcastic fucktard.
As long as it makes the game run better, I don’t mind large installs.
I need to upgrade mine, but I still have so much to buy, I need to buy an external memory device big enough to back up the data, and then an internal HDD to replace my 60gig with, I’m looking at spending a minimum of $200 and that’s going to sting a little being that the game will release this month, oh and when is ModNation Racers coming out?
Oh noes! 4GB! What will my 500GB PS3 do!?!
Bwuhahahaha! That’s a great install screen too! Not as epic as the Snake smoking install screen for MGS4, but still great.
Sweet, I already made a dirty, bloody looking little pajarito origami. Wouldn’t mind having a swan too.
@Timewarp
Here’s a good video showing how to do the installation. Remember, you need a 2.5″ laptop hard drive.

it won’t hurt my 320 GB. I have actually come to realize that an installation usually results in a game with better performance. Any time I find a game gives me the option to install now I will always do it. A wait through 4 GB will be well worth it for this game. Not to mention I will get to make an origami “swam” HA!
hopefully this means little to no load screens.
@Timewarp
don’t forget to un-authorize your audio & video before you put in the new HD,
very few mention that & it is a pain in the butt if you don’t do that.
@solidCake i never had to un-authorize with original 40g or the new slim.. It has to be done if your using the “Data Transfer” option, but not just replacing a hdd
I cant wait to make my very first Swam.
whats a swam? lol
don’t care since l have a 250 gb HDD
That sucks for people who have small hard drives. But its good to see bigger games which equals to more content.
@caphead – sony gives you 5 authorizes, you didn’t do it so you used one up.
most people will never use all 5 unless you have to send in your unit for repair
a few times. I had some problems with my 1st generation fat and had to send it back
4 times.
No worries… not with my 320Gb HDD upgrade. Thanks for the news!
@solidcake I did not use 1up , your account information is paired with the actual device number/code/serial of your system, and not your hard drive. hdd is irrelevant when it comes to this. you only have to un-authorize a system when you “data transfer” from one ps3 to another. because its using a different system/serial/code and only if you dont want to use up a authorization. if what you say about replacing a hdd without un-authorizing is true than i would be on my 8th or 9th authorization. plus those 5 authorizations only apply to if your actually authorized on 5 different systems at the same time. Once you un-authorize a system, you get that authorize back. I do hear that Sony plans to cut this back too 3 authorizations in the near future.
SolidCake – the authorization process doesn’t authorize your hard drive, it authorizes your PS3. This is why when you get a new PS3 and try to restore your backed up data from your old one only certain things will copy. Whereas if you just put in a different hard drive pretty much everything copies over. The authorization process I believe is based off of your PS3s MAC address, which is stored in the PS3 memory and not on the HDD.
@solidcake I just spent the last ten minutes on the phone with a sony rep. to validate my thought. check for yourself 1-800-345-7669 . everything I explained is 100% correct. no need to un-authorize the system when changing out a hdd.
anyways.. I am happy to hear this will install on to the hdd. A game like this almost HAS to be.
I only have a 40GB, but I still don’t care. Put the game on my HDD. Once I’m done I’ll just delete the Game Data, and keep the Save Data. Voila!
@to all who commented:
thanks for clearing this issue up, I appreciate having the correct information now.
@mega1120 & Solidcake
thanks for the advice it’s cool to know that there’s some people still who would rather give advice then come up with a sarcastic remark.
anyone know any good deals on HDD before i go out hunting?
@joinsideke
in most cases, the cheapest prices are online. if you don’t wanna go that route, you can do as i did and head to Best Buy and pick up a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 2.5″ sata drive for under $100. Best Buy also caries Western Digital 250GB externals for around $60 which is more than enough room to back up the HD.
wait. you can hook up an external to a ps3 and use it?
@joinsideke you can hook up a external drive, but the game wont install onto it. its basically just a storage device.
Ok I thought so. I was going to be shocked If I had missed something like that after all this time,
