After receiving numerous red lights and no solid concrete release date set, Sony Computer Entertainment Portugal boss James Armstrong has indicated that a release date for Gran Turismo 5 will be “this fall”.
In an interview with CAD, Sony’s Portugal boss James Armstrong has confirmed that Polyphony Digital’s eagerly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 will be racing towards a launch “this fall”.
We believe that launching the product this fall, before Christmas, but not yet decided.
I do not rule that uses the MC but I doubt it. GT 5 is a great hope for Sony, a very important game for the company, which generates much income.
I’m very confident in this game that we [will] launch this year and help us consolidate PS3.
Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi revealed “About 90% of the game is done. We are just working on the last 10% and polishing up everything.”
COME ON! i bet when fall arrives they say weeeellllll……spring 2011……..mmmmaaaaaayyybeee……we dont know. I think this game is a myth its not even in production. They made screens of some cars and a few videos to keep it alive. They should title the game GT5: The Yeti.
^^^^ LMAO
I’m confused as to why even Playstation Lifestyle say “after numerous delays”. This game has never had a release date outside of Japan which was officially announced as March. If they delay it in Japan then it will only be the first official delay.
We in Europe and NA have never had a release date, thus there has been no official delay.
I really really love coming to this site for Playstation related news but for the love of God guys, don’t be guilty of the same stupid misconceptions as so many other gaming sites out there.
Now please, keep up the good work and reporting!
Well PD said the same thing last summer that they could release the game anytime since they were just putting the finishing touches on the game. And now we get a fuzzy release date in a Portugal mag? Seems to me like PD acting like M$ when they first promised Windows to the computer community. It became known as vaporware, maybe GT5 is PD’s vaporware since all we have so far is GT5 Prologue and a “Time Trial” demo.
Maybe they are waiting for motion controller to be the new steering wheel? At this rate they will be the into the next generation of third party racing sims before the first party even gets to the track.
As I have said in the past “perfection will kill this project if that is what they are looking for”, but as has been reported they are always finding something new to either fix or add to the game.
I might have to decide to pass on this since “PERFECTION” is the expectation and whose version of “PERFECTION” will we use?
It will never reach that in reality.
But then this might just be for the EU/UK release.
again…why even tell us this??? Now if it isn’t Fall people will get even more upset! Just quit telling us release dates so we can’t hate you anymore!! That goes for any developer. Tell us when the game is 100% finished when we will be able to buy it, other than that just shut up!
Gran Turismo 5 To Be Speeding Towards Fall Release…
…and subsequently gets pulled over for speeding, thus delayed to Spring 2011.
So are we talking about duke nukem or Gran Turismo here? Cause it seems to be about the same…
Well we can only hope for a fall release but just in case lets just say its due for Christmas.
In 1962 President Kennedy challenged the American space program to land a man on the moon before the end of the decade. They accomplished that in 1969.
Yamauchi is taking just about as long to make a video game. A freaking video game.
@SPD55
thats exactly how i feel about GT5.. delay, delay,delay…. “we are just perfecting the game”.
It seems that there is something going on here because I do not think that Sony would sacrifice the income this product is going to bring by pushing the release date back like they have been doing unless there are major design flaws that have just come to light.
@JackC8
Bloody good point ,bloody good comparison! Made me laugh my arse off
To think that the US put a man on the moon in the 60′s not far off the time frame of PD making GT5 is funny as fuck lol- because it’s true! The irony of it all is, that by the time GT5 eventually gets released, we’ll all be flying around in hover cars most likely lol
@Karum
if Japan has a release date, than the rest of the world is next. hence: “after numerous delays” does make sense..
Gran Turismo Nukem: Forever
this is also to support head tracking via firmware update
@zac islam
dont bend your writing style for the sake of someone else’s comment.
I think I just remembered why the delay. They have to get 3D code in there for the 3d Television sets that Sony will begin selling this Summer so releasing the game in Fall gives them time to update??? And if you believe that I have a Ocean-front lot in Arizona to sell ya. But that could be the reason since it falls into place like that. But I would bet that it would be delayed again because they are not comfortable with the Quality of the 3D renders….
It feels just like Prego pasta sauce they have to wait to have it all in there before they sell it… When you could just release the game and Patch in 3d with DLC and new tracks, vehicles etc…
I think its the collision they added to the car models.
probably december, so that’s almost a year away, this game is officially off my radar.
