We cannot wait for players to experience the terrifying and exhilarating vision of Hell that awaits in Dante’s Inferno. Knight also spoke to IndustryGamers revealing that Dante’s Inferno II won’t exist any time soon:

I’ve read the entire divine comedy and I’ve given it some thought, but there are no plans.

  1. *Sniff Sniff* I think I smell BS!!!

  2. I don’t think it’s BS. The game is VERY loosely based on Inferno itself. All it takes are the characters, location and general premise (save Beatrice). I think the real draw was that they were using Dante’s descriptions of Hell. I think the fact that Inferno was more of an inspiration instead of source material, as well as the varied reviews, with some being poor, are putting them off from a sequel. I think the final factor will be sales.

You know I would almost respect them more if they didn’t make a sequel even if sales are extremely high. It seems to me like Dante’s Inferno is going to be the completion of one story, saving beatrice, and therefore a sequel really wouldn’t be necessary. We see too often these days a company that will just make a sequel out of a game that really wasn’t supposed to have one just because it sold well the first time around and they want to capitalize on the following it generates. Usually those games are the ones that produce horrible second games and would just be better off to stop at the first.

The general premise was not about saving Beatrice, it was Beatrice orchestrating Dante’s salvation.

I still can’t respect the game for it’s blatant rip off of other not-to-be-named action franchises. From what I played of the demo, it was completely unoriginal, and they just used the inferno because they could loosely base it on something people would recognize and that dealt with the dead realm with demons and souls. Calling the game “Dante’s Inferno” is deceiving to people who will be expecting the first part of the divine comedy.

And the worst part is that it probably WILL sell well because people who are not as ambitious as I am(we are) to look up if the game is worth the money will have seen the ad during the Super Bowl. or have heard about it from friends/ads online and then see that it looks like a great beat em up satan slayer, and spring for it only to be left feeling like a hung over roofie’d girl.
