EA Sports Benches Major Sports Title

02/13/2010 Written by Thomas Williams

Bad news for EA Sports fans out there, as EA has canceled one of their major sports titles this year and the series as a whole is under review. Fans of March Madness might not be to happy to hear this news.

Many gamers might have noticed that NCAA Basketball 10 was missing from EA’s fiscall 2011 release list and speaking to IGN, the news is nothing but bad for NCAA Basketball fans.

We do not have an NCAA Basketball game in development at this time, and we’re currently reviewing the future of our NCAA Basketball business. This was a difficult decision, but we remain a committed partner to the NCAA and its member institutions.

What does this mean for NCAA Basketball fans? With EA canceling their yearly edition and with 2K Sports canceling theirs in 2008, those looking for some College B-Ball action are completely out of luck.

So for those of you who had planned on taking Bryant University to the Final Four, you’re out of luck.

We will let you know if EA Sports reconsiders their decision anytime soon.

I play most sports games, but college basketball is one Ive never really liked. I havent bought one since the first one for PS2, so it wont affect me any. Im curious on the sales for those games anyways. I know it cannot be anywhere near NCAA Football.

wow, that is a very interesting decision. I know I have never been a fan of the college basketball, or any basketball for that matter, but I always assumed there were enough fans to support a franchise like March Madness. I guess I was wrong because I don’t think EA would cancel a franchise if it was selling well.

  3. The game sucked. It has ALWAYS sucked. 2K’s b-ball games have always been better. Hell, I STILL play College Hoops 2k*\8 every once in awhile.
