The mastermind behind Quantic Dream‘s murder mystery thriller Heavy Rain, David Cage, has said that he originally wanted motion controls for the exclusive.
Speaking recently in a Q&A with Norwegian publication Dagbladet, Cage has stated that Heavy Rain was meant to be based on motion control and also teases something new.
If you are talking about Motion Control, this is something we initially considered for Heavy Rain. The very first version of the game design was based on motion control, but it was not feasible at the time.
I have a lot of interest in Sony’s motion device and there is a good chance that we will announce something about it in the coming weeks.
Sony’s motion control is slated for a release this Autumn. Heavy Rain will be released on February 23 in the US, and February 26 in the UK.
That might of actually worked well…
I’m a little lost… so now that PS3 has confirmed the Arc, SixAxis control isn’t considered Motion Control? I think there is a little ambiguity here. Heavy Rain does have Motion Control, using the six axis, shaking my PS3 Controller isn’t any less motion control than the Arc.
I think in this statement, they are talking about PS3′s SixAxis feature and how they could have incorporated it more, as 1. the game has been in development since the launch of PS3 and 2. “motion control”/Arc has only been announced since last year.
Agree with Rictor. Weird about it. It looks great to use the six axis shaking thing and i don’t think arc is a cool thing to add in a heavy rain game.
Dagbladet xD
I am reading dagbladet every day here in Norway!
I can’t wait to see what kind of games are incorparated with this “Arc” they should ship the tech demo they showed for the “Arc” for free with it. That thing was cool enough
Agree with Xael, give us Knight Shield game, except I’m hoping for Elder Scrolls: Arc. Being able to control you character and swing your sword in first person however you want would be soo awesome.
the Arc would be PERFECT for this game. Think of the demo with () having to defend himself in quicktime events with timed movements. Now think about holding the arc in your hand and at the moment of having to block the punch, having to swing it up over your face to avoid getting pizowned. I would definitely be interested in it, and this might actually be what tehy’re considering, especially come fall when people start to forget about HR and they breathe some new life into it.
