Cliffy B Has High Marks for Bioshock 2

02/15/2010 Written by Kyle P.

Having being released last week, Bioshock 2 is receiving consistently good marks across the board. 2k Marin certainly had a tough job with this game; trying to recreate the environment and atmosphere the first game so brilliantly did. Even noted game developer ‘Cliffy B’ joined the party, and shared his enthusiasm for the game, earlier today.

Calling the game a “worthy successor” to the original Bioshock. Full tweet below:

Thus far #Bioshock2 is a worthy successor to my previous Game of the Year. Good stuff indeed.

Such high remarks coming from a well-respected industry veteran is certainly good. Do you agree with Cliffy B? Or is his excitement unsubstantiated? Post your thoughts and feelings in the comments section below. Bioshock 2 is in stores now, so go and get it! Make sure to check out PlayStation LifeStyle’s recently released review of the game.

    I highly disagree, after getting the plat in bioshock 2… i can say its nowhere near as good as 1

    1 was harder, 2 is far easier… at the end of 1 big daddies still took forever to kill, in 2 they took less time to kill the first one than it did to kill the last one in the bioshock 1

    big sisters were more of a joke, and i fought brutes the most powerful tihng in the game…

    1 had better designed area’s, though alex the great was cool, bioshock 1 had a area for each person more or less…

    there was mentioned that we wouldnt see the ending coming, in theory i didnt but its not like the atlas/would you kindly from 1 its more “i saw details coming, but as a whole i was slightly off” not to mention that lamb wasnt as interesting as ryan/frank she was just bipolar with DoG which got tiring…

    it doesnt look as nice, and one of the biggest features i was excited for IE online was so hard to play i had to force myself to hit level 40 for the cool cut scene =\

    My memory escapes me, what is Cliffy B responsible for again?

    Cliffy B is Gears of War and not a supporter of PS3 because he is a clown, but what I wish is that he gets a open mind and make Gears 1 and 2 on PS3 on one disc because the graphics on those game could fit on one disc and sale well. Or ateast make a new title with the feel of Gears for the PS3 and still be able to keep that fat Microsoft check and not be such a tool. Because Xbox supports are such tools overall. Rant out.

  4. B2 is not as hard as B1, but it’s much more enjoyable for the everyday gamer and I think that goes a long way. I like to think I play alot of games, but there’s no way a casual gamer could have played B1 on hard without gettin extremely frustrated.

    I’m currently playing B2 on hard and have found it to be hard, but not too hard that you give up on playing it and switching it to an easier mode. Being easier isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

    Peace,
    VG

    The irony of this post is…incredible.

    @Nosferatu King

    unless your saying that he is a tool for supporting the PS3, than I don’t see what Irony your talking about. But if you are calling him a tool, than you’re no better than he is for calling someone a tool because they support a specific console

  7. Just beat the game about an hour ago. It was an enjoyable game, but it doesn’t compare to the first. They were never going to be able to match up to the story and twists of the first, but it was like they didn’t even try. It was a ‘no win’ situation really I guess.

    haha i agree..

    @Xael

    he never called him a tool.. he said the irony of this post is incredible Stop pulling a Kwietstorm on his ass. lol.

  9. so… I’m confused at the comments here. Every one is pissed off that he said it was a good game? But it looks like your all pissed that he insulted the game? what the hell?

    Irony – The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.

    I think Nosferatu meant hypocrisy. Ranting about how someone needs to be open minded and at the same time insulting people for being xbox supporters is hypocritical, since it is a closed minded view.

    I’m a little put off about the actual comments concerning this game. Many people comment about how the story line isn’t really up to snuff. I wonder if thats because in the original there was so much to introduce, that it made it seem like the story was more incredible, or if the new one really is lacking. In the original, we got introduced to a whole new world, with rich characters, crazy enemies, rediculous experiments, and a whole slew of back story concerning revolution and smuggling between characters we never meet. Its a lot to take in. I’m sure the sequel goes on the basis that all this is explained already – does that make it seem like its lacking? I guess I don’t want the answers yet, I’ve been trying to avoid any spoilers.

    Not too many people have talked about the actual gameplay, which is more what I’m concerned with. Are the new plasmids cool? Or the plasmid upgrades? How about the weapons? Do they mix well to create dynamic combat? Is there still numerous ways to approach every situation? Are there new objects to hack? Do the controls feel any more fluid (sighting and crouching felt stiff in the first, for example)?

    I guess whatever the answers, I’ll find out tonight – game should arrive in the mail today.

    I am really enjoying B2 thus far, things i like better would be the plasmid/tonic levels and distribution, better hacking mingame, and i kinda enjoy the multiplayer as well.
    I’m playing on hard w/o vitas, and i have found some extremely trying parts.
    Overall though it is easier than B1 was on hard.
    And i did enjoy B1 twists and story better, but maybe b/c it was so unlike anything before it.
    Still a very worthy successor with some good improvements.

  11. Timewarp says:

    Maybe because nobody cares Microsoft’s lap dog thinks of this game. Cliffy B’s only commenting on this as he knows it’s a good game and if he says it’s good people will like him, it’s quite sad really but he’s the biggest attention whore in the gaming industry so we’ve come to except that from him.

    Please Cliffy if you happen to be reading this. NOBODY CARES.
