FFXIII Devs Acquired Inspiration From Other Games

Square’s FFXIII’s creator, Motomu Toriyama, has stated in an interview that the legendary developers took inspiration from other games.

During a recent interview with Eurogamer, FFXIII’s creator, Motomu Toriyama, spoke about some of the games which contributed to the inspiration of RPG epic Final Fantasy XIII.

We did actually take a look at games like BioWare’s, and Fallout as well. But rather than that, we took more inspiration from FPS games like Call of Duty and Halo. Those games seems to present a very real-time, tense atmosphere on the battlefield where the player gets involved in the fighting. That’s the kind of thing that we looked at more intensely.

Some new amazing screenshots of the PS3 version of the RPG surfaced recently. Final Fantasy XIII is penciled for a Western blockbuster release on March 9, 2010.

  1. Dear Square Enix,

While you have a fabled past when you were known as “Squaresoft,” your latest(re: last 10 years) body of work has sucked all amounts of ass.

Please never mention the words “Bioware” and “Fallout” again.

    Thanks.

    Love,

A fan that stopped caring after FFIX.

meanwhile in a shocking world news, THE SUN HAS FALLEN!
Everyone gets inspiration from everyone, it’s the media’s way of saying plagirism

  3. Awh, King, FFX was pretty good, and I was a sucker for XI.

Also, when I had an Xbox (before I threw it out a window), Infinite Undiscovery was pretty satisfying.

  4. FFXI was way too linear. FFXII was fully automated by the time I got to the end (I beat the game one handed! move character near enemy…. done.). XIII? Ahhhhhh I’m so skeptical, I’m not even bothering.
