Rebellion Hits Back At AvP Demo Criticism

02/15/2010 Written by Zak Islam

The Aliens Vs Predator revamped demo includes just one single mode, Deathmatch. For those who weren’t satisfied with the lack of modes, Rebellion has responded to the criticism.

CEO and co-founder of Rebellion, Jason Kingsley, has stated that the choice of the Deathmatch mode was to allow players to ease in to the controls and get used to it.

We chose Deathmatch as the mode for the demo as it’s very familiar to all FPS gamers and minimizes restrictions on players while they are getting to grips with the controls of each of the three playable species,” he said.

We have plenty of new modes in the game and players only have to wait a matter of days before they can play them when the game launches.

A new revamped demo with numerous bugs being fixed is now live for you to try out in the store. Aliens vs. Predator arrives on February 16 for North America and February 19 for Europe.

Ah who cares, this game will release to “avarage” scores and it won’t sell good, maybe on the 360, but really who cares

  2. SpeCtR says:

well put xael…who cares!! didnt hear bout this until a few months before it released… i have enough fps games as it is, and with titles like mw2 and mag…who needs an avp

360 fans are eating this up cause all that console has to offer is crappy First person shooters. Section 8 Im talking about you!, Oh Raven squad also. Played the demo, it sucked. The game is already getting low scores. PASS

  4. This is why you don’t release a demo until AFTER the game has released. This game will meet the same fate as HAZE except HAZE was a PS3 exclusive.

    Peace,

I thought the demo on PSN was hard to get a grasp of but still kinda fun overall. I don’t think that this is a issue but rather a fault on there behalf, they should have held off on releasing the demo until that had a full understanding of this complex system that is the beast of PS3 and done it right. Either way, I like the demo for the most part.

The demo didn’t even work, now the game’s getting pretty lousy reviews. Meh… Bargain bin purchase at best.

  8. I got the demo to work for some private matches with my friend, and we tested out each species. Predator is by far the coolest, and way over powered, but fun. All the unique weapons and cloaking and three vision modes make him really entertaining to be. As a human I felt like total alien fodder, I could get kills if I had the right gun, but always felt very vulnerable. As the alien I felt really limited with having only three ways of attacking, one of which being a one hit kill that leaves me defenseless for awhile. Also, wall crawling gets really confusing really quick, its hard to not get disoriented while trying to track a target. Overall it could be fun for a little bit, but what really hit me was the level design. Its mostly wide open hallways, ramps with no railings, and just struck me as bland. As human Vs human you really realize theres virtually no where to take cover, and even if there was, you can’t (unless theres a crouch feature I totally missed).
