The trailer is hot, and they hint at Hakan at the end. To me with all this talk about Hakan and that he’s a “grappler” it just sounds like Hakan will be an Alex clone, since they couldn’t give us Alex because he is in Tatsunoko VS Capcom and they don’t want to hurt their sales of that game, if Alex is in both games.

  4. KwietStorm says:

How would having Alex in Super Street Fighter IV affect Tatsunoko sales or vice versa?

  5. Xael says:

Because people really wanting to play as Alex would have to look towards purchasing Tatsunoko, but if Alex was in fact going to be in SSFIV then people would just skip out on getting Tatsunoko and just buy SSFIV when it comes out.

Some people are like that man, read the comments on other sites. You have people buying this game just because 1 of their favorite character made the roster. Any character from Ibuki to Guy has won over thousands of fans. I’ve seen a lot of request for Alex, he’s a pretty popular character, but he’s in Tatsunoko, could this have been a move to get people who are fans of Alex to buy this game? I think so. No one really wants to buy Tatsunoko for the Wii, everyone is pretty much just anticipating the moment that it will be announced for the PSN and XboxLive Arcade. The Wii’s online is dead, so you won’t have much of a fighting game community on the Wii to begin with. I just popped in SFIV today and there’s still people playing this game at 11am EST. So Capcom just wants every incentive they can get for people to buy this. The NA sales of Tatsunoko will show how much of a mistake it was to release it on the Wii. What other fighting games does the Wii have anyway other than Brawl?

Just don’t be surprised when Hakan has a striking similarity to Alex. When a company makes more than one fighting game franchise you have to becareful how you time releases and rosters, it could inhibit sales. Tekken 6 has been out in arcades since early ’08, but they didn’t release the game till ’09, you think maybe Soul Calibur IV’s release in the summer of ’08 had something to do with that? I think so.
