Tapping into the PlayStation 3‘s capabilities and undoubtedly showcasing the system’s potential, Killzone 2 was quite possibly be the best shooter of 09′ and one of the best on Sony’s new-generation console. Guerrilla‘s exclusive brought the current generation breathtaking graphics and a visceral online experience. The question on every fan’s mind is will Killzone receive another sequel? Well, it shouldn’t be too long until we see Sev and company return.
A regular user SikTh on the PSU forums has indicated that we will see at least some new information on the Killzone 2 franchise in the coming week. The user also informed that if Killzone 3 is slated for 2010, then brace your self for an announcement in the next few days.
I did say that I was expecting a lot of Killzone 3 news this month and, well, we are starting to see Sony open up about it. There was a speculation on some website saying that we should expect to see news surfacing “in” a few months from now when the actual article stated “over the next few months”. This means that they will begin revealing more and more info over over the course and they´ll probably begin by official announcing the game.
SikTh last month had said we would see new information about the shooter this month:
I will have a LOT of Killzone 3 news next month. There was talk of trying to release the game by the end of 2010 to compete with Halo: Reach. I personally doubt that this will happen. I am almost certain we will see Killzone 3 Feb/March 2011. I can shed some more light on this next month.
SikTh also had access to other unreleased titles such as Aliens Vs Predator, Dante’s Inferno, Heavy Rain, as shown by screenshots here. So he does have some credibility, even if it isn’t completely official.
The PS3M rumor column stated we should “expect more on Guerilla’s FPS sequel over the next few months”. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Killzone 3 makes an appearance at E3 this year if we do indeed hear of some confirmation in the next few days as to the existence to the next installation in the series.
Awesome! I loved Killzone 2!!
[...] sure did a hell of a job with it.So what about Killzone 3? Ya know we can’t help but ask the question. Well on the PSU forums, active user SikTh said that there will be some information on the [...]
I cannot wait for this game! should be very good
loved Killzone 2 and can’t wait for Killzone 3.
Oh please no. I don’t like seeing sequels within two years of the original (well in this case, a sequel to the sequel, usually a sign that the game is being rushed.
KillZone 2 is still my number 1 FPS game. KillZone 3 = day one purchase.
i dont see how this would be possible.
it took GG 4 years to make killzone 2, how the hell are they going to make KZ3 in a year?
and no, the engine is not complete if you watch the 4D video they have on the PSN network and listen to the commentary they had to leave out a few features out of the engine because of time constraints.
they say once KZ2 is out they want to spend a few months adding these features in and making sure everything fits well, so theres a couple of months gone on the engine alone.
not to mention there are so many games due to release this year there is simply no room for KZ3.
next year after march ok, i could believe that but there is no way its going to be out before then/

It’s not uncommon these days for game developers to have 2 games running along side by side, but staggered if you get me. Santa Monica Studios started coding God Of War 3 the same time as they started coding GOW2 on the PS2. So technically KZ3 could have been in production for the last 2 years for all we know!
I personally don’t think it will appear this side of december 2010 however, but you never know.
if its ready, great but i cant see that happening.
i just dont want to see it rushed for the sake of having it out there to compete with halo reach.
plus i think that would be a massive mistake since there is no way killzone 3 will stand up to halo reach in the sales department, so sony would be best off to release it as far away from halo as possible.
though id love to see a few things changed for killzone 3.
1 being have a proper storyline, explain who the higs are and why we are fighting them.
2 more enemy types and make the player change his tactics.
KZ2 is extremely repetitive in the seance that all you do is pop and shoot, they need a few enemies in there that force you to change your tactics and keep you on your toes.
having said that, release it when its ready.
if that means by the end of the year than great.
but id rather wait 2 years and the game be fantastic than wait 1 and it be mediocre.
