God Of War III Uses Monstrous Amount of Blu-Ray Space

02/22/2010 Written by Zak Islam

Rapidly approaching its release date, God Of War III has recently gone gold. Since the PlayStation 2 series, the hack-and-slash series has pushed the console hardware to the max. The folks at Sony Santa Monica have shared a bit of info on how massive Kratos’ epic quest on the PlayStation 3′s Blu-Ray disc.

Director of Technology at Sony Santa Monica Studios Tim Moss, has revealed via his twitter, the amount of space that God of War III will be using up on a Blu-Ray disc.

#GOW3 35Gb of goodness. Thank heavens for Dual Layer Blu-Rays.

Amen to that. The magnitude of data which a Blu-Ray Disc’s capacity can hold up to 25Gb for a single-layer disc, and a staggering 50Gb for a dual-layered disc. Last month, it was reported that Sony and Panasonic would be teaming up to bring us an amount which exceeds the 25Gb standard Blu-Ray disc capacity.

We can find out how well Sony took advantage of the Blu-Ray disc when God Of War releases on March 16th for North America and a projected March 19th release for Europe.

I don’t want to wait anymore!! Give it to me NOW! With that said…I’m usually not one to say that games like God of War and others that have always focused on single should throw in multiplayer for the next game but I just thought of a multiplayer concept that would be really sweet for the God of War universe, or just anything that would be based on Greek mythology…I want to be able to play as any God, having their “godly” powers, versus the Titans, and their abilities, then you throw in Kratos trying to take everyone out!! That could be a game all in itself. It could have Team Deathmatch with Gods vs. Titans, Free-For-All with Zeus and Poseidon kicking the crap out of each other, and the list of modes could go on…then one randomly selected player in every round could play as Kratos. That would be pretty sweet! Like I said, in a single player only game like God of War I usually don’t say I want them to add multiplayer like Assassin’s Creed and others, etc., but I just think that would be an amazing game. I guess I just like Greek mythology so any AAA title modeled around that universe would be welcome.
