Quantic Dream’s ambitious thriller title Heavy Rain has finally released today, and so far it has spelled good news for Sony. The game has been a top-seller on Amazon and other online retailers for over two weeks now, and has also received strong appraise from sites around the globe. However, that doesn’t stop some North American consumers from feeling a little disappointed with the cover art for the game.
Since the official announcement of the North American cover art for Heavy Rain, many PlayStation 3 owners have expressed disappointment, especially when compared to what many consider a “superior” European cover art. Thankfully, the official PlayStation Blog has released the European cover art for the game as promised. This allows those with a proper printer to print out the cover art of the European version to slide into the game’s box. Also, be sure to print on 11 x 17 paper and cut along the lines that are designated on the outside of the image.

Normally I wouldn’t care, but the differences between the two boxarts are big. I do not like the NA one, not because of the blatant boobage, but because the origami makes the lead woman look really skinny.
I quite honestly don’t care at all…You want to know what I do with the cover art?? I look at it for about 5 seconds when I am opening the game for the first time and then I never pay attention to it ever again. Then when it goes on my shelf the only thing that shows is the spine so it doesn’t really matter then either. I think in order to quit this whining about such a stupid thing like cover art these morons just need to decide on one cover and use it in all regions. Then no one has anything to compare it too so they can’t say one is better than the other…what an unnecessary complaint
hello …
@ giese095: LOL & i totally agree, i eat the egg not it’s shell too
cover art & PSN zones are to be unified …
cheers!
I’ll never ever understand all the complaining about box covers this generation. Its the same thing with the new PS3 logo and the new PS3 model, when none of it has anything at all to do with the performance of the products. Its like its human nature to be superficial.
All that matters if the game inside, I don’t display the cover usually. If you come to my house all you’ll be seeing is the side panel witth name and nothing much more.
The Artwork is for store displays, to catch the kiddies’ eye.
Most of this started from Kotakrap’s MS troll Luke…they even ran a contest to mock the cover.
Seriously if the cover art is all they can bitch about now then the PS3 wins.
As for the cover art with boobage…..it’s a NA mindset that sells. Look at the themes in the PSN store in NA…half of it is boobs…cause it sells. Now look at it in the other regions…..now the boobs are gone.
@giese – agreed.
@robotron – is there something wrong with a little boobage?
There is nothing wrong with boobage or shower scenes showing boobage
I guess I’m the minority here, but I like both cover arts. And cover art actually is important. If it wasn’t, game developers wouldn’t need graphic designers to create said box art. Seriously, who would buy a game with a box cover that is one solid color with the title right in the middle with a plain font? I know I wouldn’t.
^ quite true, even if you dont feel its important its because we live in the days of the internet where you can read enough articles and see so much news for lets say “heavy rain” where as pack in the day of the magazine very few people would know what heavy rain was
look at uncharted 2, the cover makes me think its more of a action packed super game, i personally didnt go for the art, where as i loved japans art work
and a lot of people agree, thats a lot of what special editions are
dragon age had a metal case *by the same logic who cares*
MW 2 had a metal case
halo 2 had a metal case
resistance 2 had alt box art
doom 3 metal case
etc
though their all gimiks, i much rather have a better picture on the box than something like final fantasy XIII just nothing fancy IE no pealsnic *or however thats spelt* ink, no design, just the name and the developers name… but thats just me
Dirge – the point most of us is trying to make isn’t that cover art isn’t important at all…we all know and acknowledge the importance of “pretty” box art for marketing purposes. Our point is that as long as it isn’t horribly ugly and boring the rest shouldn’t matter. That’s why I said they should quit making different covers for different regions so that no one has anything to compare to and say “this one is better, blah, blah, blah.” I mostly have a problem with those who know they want to buy the game already, but then complain that the box art isn’t good enough…it just shouldn’t matter if one cover looks a little better than the other if you already know the game is a must buy.
I dont care how the cover looks, I just want to play. I got it from gamefly so I dont even have cover art.
