Mums the Word on Bungie and the PS3

02/25/2010 Written by Cameron Teague

Since Bungie has separated from its long time partner Microsoft, the rumors have been flying all over the internet about Bungie and possible PS3 development.  The group is working on a new game but have been very quiet about any chance of the game showing up on store shelves in a PS3 case.  When pressed about the subject in an interview with CVG, Bungie community boss Brian Jarrard had this to say.

“I mean, I think our whole future’s kind of undefined right now and it’s definitely not something we’re going to be comfortable getting into too much detail about.

“We’ve had another team internally [other than those making Reach] for quite a while now – they’ve been working on the genesis of what will become our next big thing.

“It’s a little premature to get into specifics, but you know I think we have a really good mix of old blood and new blood in the studio.”

It will curious to see what this project is and if the team at Bungie has finally decided to dip their toes into the PS3 development.  More news concerning this possibility should start to drop after the release of Halo: Reach for the 360.  As always, stay connected to PlayStation LifeStyle for all your PS3 news.

    Interesting, maybe in the back ground the tired of putting out games that just are semi-nexgen. And their ready to challenge games like KZ2 graphically. I saw that game and was like man we are just jacking around with these limitations and subpar graphics put out of the 360. So come on Bungie just in that vast ocean of possiblities and just free yourself. Hey . . . Bungie, what are you doing? . . . Put your freakin trunks back on, man. You kinda jacked up the moment, but it’s coo.

  3. Microsoft has a big majority of the Bungie Team locked in their basement….They are planning their escape but they can’t confirm PS3 development until they rescue atleast the cinematic director and 3 environment developers

    I don’t need Halo, I’ve always felt it was an overrated piece of garbage whenever I’ve played it with friends on their 360. But I think it would be safe to say that Bungie will be developing for the PS3. It would be crazy not to now that they aren’t under contract with Microsoft…why wouldn’t you want to release a game for both consoles and try to maximize profit??

    Bungie has been working on halo for like 10 years, so I don’t think they know how to program for anything other than microsoft consoles or PC, so I don’t think they’ll be making a multiplatform title for a while, but they can do awesome games, no doubt about it, let’s just hope it doesn’t take that long to see a multiplatform bungie game.

    They’re working on a PS3 title and IT CAN’T BE HALO!

    I’d put my money on it being a reboot of an old IP possibly something like Marathon or Myth but it could be a new IP entirely…i’m intrigued to see what bungie can do on the ps3 if they decide to make an exclusive IP for the ps3.

    Bungie IS a talented game development company; but were brought down by a horrible first party publisher(M$) and were forced into making Halo’s…..it’s already known bungie is in cahoots with naughty dog and the evidence is in Uncharted 2′s matchmaking, i’m assuming ND is working close with bungie helping them to get acquainted with the ps3′s architecture for an unknown game…which in turn leads me to believe that what ever bungie is working on is an exclusive new IP for sony…..Bungie + Sony = Awesome!

    I remember when Halo was suppose to be the game that was going to change Macs forever. Mac owners could now finally look forward to better games.
    The mistake they made was showing it off because MS money changed everything (doesn’t it always?).

    I also remember playing the first Halo on the Xbox. It was a new experience at it was awesome. Then the 2nd one came out and everyone felt let down. Then the turd (sorry THIRD)….ugh.
    I find the MS mindset makes companies stagnant. Gaming companies (Sony, Big N) care about money, but they also care about games which is what makes them great. MS only cares about money which is what makes them suck.

    To be honest it would have been nice to see the Mac users get a great exclusive like the first Halo.

    oh and btw don’t think I’m a Mac fanboy…..I hate Apple….but I hate MS more.

    So, somebody asked them if they’d be coming out with a game for the PS3, and they basically said “no comment”. Kudos for getting three paragraphs out of that :)

    @Robotron

    True stuff, Sony is simply a better a publisher in the sense they allow their developers to explore new avenues without pressure of deadlines and the end result are games that come out ending up as masterpieces…simply by looking at game developers like Insomniac and Naughty Dog it’s evident due to the fact those companies have multiple stellar IP’s on sony platforms. Bungie got suckered into M$’s reigns of control and the end result was a strain on their creative talents due to the fact halo was such a hit success that M$ wanted just that to keep the money rolling in. If bungie and sony worked together on an exclusive IP it would undoubtedly be a masterpiece IMO.

    @The queef sisters

    Gayblo? Really is that how petty this has come? Halo’s one of the best games out on the 360 heck you proberly only hate it because you don’t own a 360 and god knows that means the only solution is bitch like hell about it.

    It’s not going to happen as Halo is basically MS’s flagship game but I’m ok with that, you know why? Because sony has LBP, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Agent and tons more. Some of these exclusives even made by sony themself.

    I know that alot of ps3 owners would welcome bungie with open arms

    But if Bungie in not in contract anymore, does it mean Bungie can release a Halo for ps3? Or will Halo still belong to microsoft?

  12. shinkeidei says:

    as pointed a couple comments above, halo is actually a good game,it has a great setting, a good story and good fun gameplay. Is not bungie’s fault that M$hit uses the franchise as a money printing machine, let us not hate the beaten wife (the only thing I detest from halo are the fanboys) and yes it is and it will always be on $**tbox because the IP now belongs to M$ not bungie…anyway, out there, there’s another bungie franchise I’ve been playing, which is just a good or better, and even though is old, it still holds up, that’s of course MARATHON, I wish sometime in the future bungie revisits this IP and bring crazy durandal back for the new generations, not anytime soon though; they’ve already confirmed they’re working in a totally new IP; and if it come to our beloved PS’s, we should be happy because it will be great

  13. I think if Bungie is coming to PS3 it wont be with HALO. it will be something entirely different which I welcome. Ive been waiting to see a game come from Bungie that isn’t Halo. Now we can see what Bungie gots

    I’d love a spiritual sequel to Oni!

  15. Max Murray says:

    yeah, timewarp, we don’t have agent anymore…
    still got R&C, MGS(mostly), Heavy Rain, GOW…

    Also, not a chance we’ll see Halo. Ever. I bet my entire vid library on it- and I’m done prophesying over it. Hopefully bungee can give us something new, somethign that everyone can play- they’ve proved to be a great franchise builder. Let’s see em do it again.

  16. lemmy78 says:

    LOL all i ever hear a eggbox360 owner say is HALO HALO HALO!? Thats because its the only good game on a 360 LOL Hope they do pull off a awesome new ps3 title but,………….

  17. Timewarp says:

    still says it’s PS3 exclusive to me. You might have meant La Noire as that was an exclusive that was added for the 360 as well.
