Quantic Dream‘s ambitious murder mystery thriller is technically impressive, boasting some of the best graphics on the PlayStation 3 console. Now, the tale of the hunt for the Origami Killer has something else to boast about… Sales.
The latest UK Charts from Chart-Track have been revealed, and Heavy Rain is enjoying the coveted top spot. The cinematic thriller is Sony’s first number one since Guerrilla Games’ Killzone 2 arrived over a year ago. Heavy Rain’s dominance knocks the fastest selling game of 2010, Alien Vs Predator, into 2nd, while Just Dance is still doing the fox trot in a comfortable position at 3rd.
Week ending February 27th , 2010:
Will Heavy Rain’s triumph be short lived with Final Fantasy XIII only days away from its western release, or will Kratos unleash his fury and really show who’s the God of sales?
too bad I can’t play it right now because of the stupid PSN error! Please, Sony, fix it by the time I get home from work…
first off kratos should not be put into the form of God….there is only 1 God…and kratos is not him
@spectr – not that I want to get into a religious debate here, but technically speaking theres many many gods, its really just a matter which one you believe in, if you believe in any. While monotheism dominates most of the world, there are still polytheistic religions about. With respect to Kratos and his universe/time era/mythology – its polytheistic, and so as a result Kratos may be regarded as a god, fictional or not. Plus, dude, it was a play on words. Nobody is seriously worshiping him. Have a sense of humor, and don’t take it as a personal shot at your religion.
And to answer the actual question – yes Heavy Rain’s dominance will be short lived. Upon my second play through I’m not finding as much variation as I had hoped for. Sure, certain chapters are only playable based on certain actions, but within the chapters themselves it can be difficult to deviate from the main path of gameplay – basically, I don’t see much replayability here, and thus I will most likely return it upon achieving a platinum to buy FFXIII or just put more money towards God of War. Don’t get me wrong though, Heavy Rain is great, and everyone should play it once. Regarding FFXIII vs GOW3, I automatically say GOW3,,, however, multiplatform sales might push FFXIII into the lead. GOW3 will without a doubt be the better game though.
pretty happy this happened, it’s a great game and was somewhat of a gamble.
this game does push game narrative forward and I’m glad that it is reaching a wide audience
