idk id rather have cross game chat then 3d…cause 3d means i have to go spend an outrageous amt of $ for a new tv..whereas cross game chat i might have to subscribe to a premium service… im alll for cross game chat..all these lil upgrades that keep being done to go make me spend tons of money can go somewhere else… im not saying i dont want 3d but cross game chat sounds better lol

I can tell those people who are concerned about 3-D TVs being to expensive for the average person not to worry , a 42 inch 600hz 3-D ready Samsung plasma is around $800 – fairly cheap .
how come you need a 3-D ready tv instead of just any 120hz or higher set ? they have software built in to enable the tv to synch with the source ( in this case a ps3 ) – the timing of the glasses shutters has to exactly match the onscreen pixels so you need a compatible tv , something to broadcast a signal to the glasses either through infrared or bluetooth and something to play the game or movie and all need to synch up ….. a lot of TVs have a usb port to enable firmware upgrades so could potentially be made 3-D ready same as the ps3 will be

currently to use the 3-D on my tv I need the glasses , a laptop running the software to enable playback of 3-D games or movies and a sensor unit for the glasses to synch to , not enough information about how it will work on a ps3 is available yet but I’ll assume they’ll sell the shuttered glasses with bluetooth to enable synch to the ps3 , that will act as the connection to the tv and run the software to synch everything up — all I’ll need to do is update the ps3 firmware – buy the compatible glasses and change the hdmi cable from the port I use now to the TVs 3-D enabled port .

I am looking forward to some super stardust 3-D and to playing some 3-D blu-rays

OK i wish i had 3d tv, i would 100% buy a 3d GT5. But i literally just bought all new TV’s last year when we moved into our new house. Doh.

Yeah man I agree with you. I don’t know what theHaters deal was, but he’s obviously not keeping up with what’s going on with that statement he made. 3D will sell SONY consoles. I heard Avatar Bluray will come out in April. SONY will have the firmware update ready by then, if not ON the release date of Avatar. Seriously what’s so hard about compensating with a cell phone. In fact I haven’t even thought of that before, so I will just start to use my cell phone whenever I want to talk to someone on my friends list while playing a game. Like Demon’s Souls for example.

You know based on the general information I have, 600hz HDTV’s should be able to handle it. I mean I don’t know though, you might have looked into it more so than I have. But if you have a plasma (which I’m sure is the only kind of TV that has 600Hz) then you are set. My problem is that I have a Plasma but mine is a pretty old model, so I might be the one out of luck with a Plasma that won’t support it.

I’m ready for this 3D man. and you bet your ass that SONY will advertise the SHIT out of it.

Playstation. It only does 3D!!!!

@Giese – I’ve been looking into the 3D thing (because I want it) and its complicated. I was hoping that my tv with a rediculous 600Hz refresh rate would be able to handle 3D, but I don’t think it can. Basically it needs to alternate polarized images so fast that the naked eye can’t detect it, and your glasses would have to be able to filter them. I don’t think thats possible (the producing polarized images part), but that’d be the idea. Otherwise, you need the “blinds” glassess that have shutters on each eye, that alternate opening and closing, so only one eye sees the tv at a time. Again, it happens really fast so you can’t tell, unless you’re not looking at the tv. The only problem with that is the glasses have to sync up with the tv – again, I don’t think it can happen. I hope I don’t have to buy a new tv and that theres a work around for this, but I find it unlikely.

hello …

i’m a total client for 3D & Arc, this is innovation & even if in the past it failed (3D) or succeeded (motion control), it’s just making it a perfect addon for an already excellent machine.

i have an HDTV since only 1 year & a month & it’s not a 120Hz one, it means i will have to buy another one when ready, then if the PS3 (since 2 years) made me buy an HDTV, why not a 3DTV !? … will just have to give that TV to my parents

i want to see 3D in action & i’m sure i’ll use it mostly in movies than gaming but i can’t wait for it.

let’s see, what SHOULD make gamers more excited…playing all of their favorite games in 3D or being able to use cross-game chat??? What are more people going to hear about and say, “WHOA! I think I need to go out and buy a PS3 now!” I think it must be the capability to talk to your friends when they are playing different games cuz that has SO much to do with gaming! I hate you TheHater! Use your damn cell phone if you want to talk to your friends so bad.

Now just so no one gets excited. I’m not saying cross-game chat wouldn’t be nice, though I can’t say I really feel the need for it. I’m just trying to put it in perspective as to what Sony is obviously thinking will sell more units. Also, you don’t need to buy the newest, best TV in order for it to be 3D compatible. There are a lot of TV’s out right now that are capable for a decent price. I’m pretty sure, actually, that the only requirement is that it has a 120 Hz refresh rate. Really, as long as 3D still requires glasses, all it consists of is a different combination of lines that the TV processes so that when wearing the glasses the pictures pops out. I’m not entirely sure but I think most of it can be done right on the blu-ray disc.

Maybe Sony should focus more on what gamers want. Sure this will be a nice feature for the few PS3 owners than have a 3D TV, but the majority will not experience this feature. How about they focus on in-game VOICE chat, sending/reading messaging on your ps3 from the official PlayStation website, Trophy auto syn to severs ever 10-15 minutes, and update the web browser so you can watch the latest game videos from various sites.

Motion controls are an after thought this kinda deal with that utilized at it’s fullest could be a Heavy Rain type of game with all the controls in your face and damn near touchable, but that’s just my take on the direction it could go in the hypothetical future. Natal ain’t go shit on me!!!!! I’m King of the world.

Not a lot of info has been released about specs, or increased hype from the press… I’ll be very surprised if we see it pre E3. They said Super Stardust HD was going to be one of the first games to get the update right? Well, I’m all ready then. Lets do this!!
