Without a shadow of a doubt, God of War III set the graphics bar incredibly high ever since the PlayStation 3 exclusive’s introduction a few years back. The E3 demo for the Sony Santa Monica epic made its debut last year, but how does the demo compare to the full version of God of War III in terms of visuals?
The Sony Santa Monica team have been hard at work since the E3 demo which left gamers at a standstill, blowing away all expectations. A batch of new comparison screenshots showcasing the differences from the E3 demo to the full game have been released.
Check out the shots below:
As you see by these screenshots, far more details have been implemented in to the final build of the title; most notably the lighting has dramatically improved from the E3 demo.

hello …
hummm, to all there’s a major & likeable difference, except for the snake tail monster on the final one seems all black & shadowy, unless screenshot taken while the monster was lurking in darkness & the horses & chariots looks blurry in the final one…
overall great improvement, cant wait for it!
cheers!
Hey Richy – I know from playing the demo that the screenshot of the “snake tail monster” was taken when he first appears in the shadows behind Kratos. I also think that Helios and his chariot are a little blurry to more accurately portray the speed of it flying past you. Either way I highly doubt there have been any steps backwards since the demo.
I can’t wait for this game. I had to laugh when I read IGN’s review yesterday, in which they gave it a 9.3, and right away all of the 360 fanboys and PS3 fanboys alike were making a big fuss about it not getting better. Obviously, the PS3 fanboys thought it deserved better, and the 360 fanboys were trying to rub it in our faces that our most anticipated game was a disappointment because it got a worse score than Mass Effect 2,etc….all of whom are morons.
The blurriness of the horses and chariots I think makes it look better in that one shot because it conveys motion (as they flew across) while the demo pic makes it seem as they’re moving due to the dynamic position, but also like they’re just there. Static in a sense. It’s an artistic decision that it worked well, imo.
@giese095
funny stuff. I didn’t even bother reading those moronic comments. Xbox 360 fanboys don’t even make sense 90% of the time
Isn’t the source Eurogamer? It’s their article and photos.
I don’t even plan on buying GOW3, but wow! The game looks great!
I’m sure it even looks better in motion.
I checked some videos of the game, and I said, this doesn’t look at all like the demo I played, but this make me think if it was a good decision to release this demo(on psn for everyone), or if it should have been better to make a new build so people can see how the final product looks.
Awesome game by the way, I’ll check it next year when this storm of good releases is gone(man, how I’d love to have money for everything)
Reviewers are overrated in general because the only thing that matters is what the user think while playing the game. So I’ll probably rent this one and decide for myself.
@Natiej85
You’re an idiot…why do I say that? Because God of War is EPIC and you are going to rent it. Sorry but that makes you an idiot.
I just started and I’m in awe, played the demo when it came out but it looked like crap in comparison to the real thing and the sound is amazing as well. As a gamer and Fan of the GOW series I’d strongly recommend getting this game.
lovee the improvements
Great pictures but I cant help but notice that in the 2nd and 4th pictures, the battlefield isn’t as clear as it is in the demo’s pictures. Or maybe they just removed the battlefield.
