Turn Back Time with Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Footage

Normally, movie-tie in games are not highly regarded, as many of them have a tendency to be a bit lackluster.  Ubisoft hopes to change people’s minds when they release Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands alongside its movie counterpart on May 18th.  The game will be built on the Assassin’s Creed engine, and with this first gameplay footage, looks very impressive.

The water effects when slowing down time is really cool!

is this actually a tie-in though…I was under the impression that this was an all new game bringing Prince of Persia back to the Sand of Time format and the movie was going to be based on Sands of Time, since it is in fact called Sands of Time.

@giese095 this isn’t a movie tie-in since the movie is based on the first game, this game is a sequel to that game.

the only problem with the game is that is a little bit rushed out, but it looks very good, so I’ll check if they ruin or not the sands of time trilogy.

  5. @giese – I think they meant its a tie-in to the trilogy, not the movie

Well, this is actually looking to be what I had expected from the cartoon counterpart in this franchise… so maybe I’ll finally get what I wanted originally. Those water puzzles looked really cool, and they mention bringing the other three elements into it, so I wonder what they have in store for that. I think one of my favorite things about the original series was that your environment was the puzzles, and having to use the prince’s acrobatic skills to solve them integrated really well with using those acrobatics for combat. We lost that in the cartoon counter part – puzzles were virtually non existent, and acrobatics in combat were watered down by the fact that you only face one enemy at a time. Hooray for the roots! (the band too!)

although the beginning sentence of this article calls this a movie-tie in… the video makes it seem like its not. after seeing this video im definitely going to follow this game. i didnt like the last one. it was so repetitive and just lacking in the details… i didnt mind the art style but this realism is what i would have liked to see in the last
